Mike Napoli is the worst player in MLB. We'd be better off with, well, anyone. I hope the Rangers don't re-sign him. I was completely wrong about him. He is an awful terrible player.

And today was the worst loss of the season. Doesn't bode well going into Anaheim.

Theres so much stupidity in this post I don't even know where to start. :L

Right now I'd take YT over Napoli 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. THAT is how awfully bad a player Napoli has become because YT is a major scrub as well. Evan Grant suggested trading for Carlos Ruiz to actually bring in a real catcher. I'm all for that. I just can't believe how terrible a ballplayer Mike Napoli has become and how the Rangers don't have a single decent catcher anywhere on the roster.

Tell me where I'm wrong Romeo. Napoli hasn't looked like he's had a clue the entire season. And this is a contract year for him. Scoscia was dead on about him: noodle arm, terrible plate discipline, and below average game calling ability. I just can't believe how bad he has become.

There yah have it, Napoli's about to get hot... isn't this the time of year Napoli got hot last year?

I can tell you where you are wrong... dead wrong in fact. First, Napoli is one of the most disciplined hitters on the entire team. You suggesting he isn't makes me wonder if you ever even watch the games. Napoli very, very rarely swings at bad pitches. His strikeouts lately are piling up because his timing is severely screwed up and he is missing pitches right down the middle. Again, bad timing, not discipline. You want a hitter with poor discipline? Look no farther than Josh Hamilton.

Also, Napoli calls a fine game behind the plate. There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever to suggest he doesn't. The pitching has been just fine. Colby only allowed 1 whole run today.

Napoli has been totally lost and a liability at the plate lately due to his timing. And he's not the greatest at throwing out runners. But your overall analysis of how bad he supposedly is is way off.

Three chances to single home a lead off double by Cruz and Napoli, Gentry, and Kinsler all fail. They deserved to lose this one. Nice of the rusty Ogando to cough up the lead too. And once again a minor league hitter hits his first HR against us and beats us.

I can live with the occasional blown lead or loss by the bullpen because those are bound to happen to every team. But the hitting has to be better. Adrian Beltre can't carry the load by himself every game. Hamilton has been for the most part an embarrassing joke lately. Young, despite the recent hot streak, is still no threat. Cruz and Kinsler are inconsistent, and Napoli is still just totally lost. Take away that ridiculously hot first month and the Rangers are statistically a middle of the pack offense. Meanwhile the Angels are putting up 6+ runs almost every night and getting multi-hit efforts from their 1-5 hitters. Slumps don't last for over 2 months and it's well past time for our "star" hitters to start showing up on a more consistent basis.

Its funny because it seems like were almost becoming a team that has to manufacture runs. The Rangers are well off the pace from last years 210 Hrs. Your right its Beltre that has become the solo threat on this team where the Angels now have the trio of Trout Trumbo and Pulholz. Thats hard to deal with on a daily basis. We need at least Josh to get back to being himself and either Cruz or Young to step a little more. My worry is if the Angels were to acquire a R.Dempster. That could put them over the top

Its mid-July, post All-Star break, and Napoli still hasn't gotten his timing down? He is missing pitches everywhere. And while I may be overstating his game calling deficiency, his arm is way below average and he is not even squaring up the baseball on outs. He is as lost at the plate as I've seen anyone this year on the Rangers. Of course I hope he picks it up but he is a huge liability to the club everytime he picks up a bat right now.

For me, I would be happy if Napoli winds up with a 250 or so batting average and 25 hrs. Its just not realistic for him to hit 320 with 30 Hrs again.

If we could look at obtaining another bat at C that would be fine as long as it does not mean giving up M.Olt. I know Profar is basically untouchable. I am figuring Yorvitt will not be back be back next year

Like I said earlier if the team could acquire a decent hiting catcher that would be fine as long as it does not mean giving up high level prospects. There are some good prospects I would not mind parting with, but Olt, Profar,Perez have to stay,

Carlos Ruiz

Ruiz would be a fantastic pick-up... just don't know whether Philly would trade him or what they would want in terms of prospects. It's a good idea worth looking into though.

I'm for Ruiz as long as the price in prospects isn't too high

we have 55 wins, up by 5.5 games and it's only July and suddenly everyone is in a panic. and these are the same people who were calling Napoli the natural last season

That's BS most of here know, recognize and acknowledge that Napoli was playing WAY over his head last year

Truth is, Napoli is about a .260, 25-30 HR type of guy who draws a lot of walks, that from a catcher is extremely good... and we would've been screaming for what he's giving us NOW offensively just a couple years ago
