Actually... I like the pick. Bit under the radar as far as pass rushers.. .but kid had nine sacks last year. He knows how to get after it. The question is, do we keep him on the D-line or try and kick him to OLB

I like the pick. Pissed at G-Men taking Collins but Smith is a nice addition to our defense.

I was hoping he would slide to the Cardinals in round 2. I don't know why anyone wouldn't like him, the guy is a first round talent.

Must admit, know nothing about this guy. From what I see I wonder if he is able to drop into coverage. At 271, I doubt Scot drafted him to play end in a 34 knowing how much he likes size up front. So I guess he is our edge rusher?

BY the numbers

He had the top 40 for DEs at the combine also the top broad jump, 3 cones and 60 shuttle

big fast and strong..... we might be looking at our edge rusher here guys.

Remember our DCs claim to fame is supposed to be linebackers. If the plan is to convert him to the other bookend OLB, we got a kid who has the measurables.

I think he is a 3-4 DE. He was a 4-3 DE in college. Can he cover? I dont think we can ask him to cover. Kerrigan is 260 pounds, Smith is 271 pounds. Looks like Hatchers replacement. If we really wanted a pas rusher why not take Gregory or even Harold That is why I believe he is a DE.

Could of had Williams and Gregory or TJ Clemmings. We have Scherff and Williams. I am just puzzled right now.

Preston Smith was a solid pick. With Scherff and Smith, we're having a pretty darn good draft. Will Smith be on the cover of Esquire magazine any time soon? No. But he's a versatile talent that can rush the passer and stop the run just like Kerrigan can.

In the third round, let's look for an OG.

Better cone and shuttle time than Fowler gives me hope that he can drop into coverage, but just from an eye test he doesn't look like he can. I'm interested in hearing the press conference to determine where they plan on lining him up. My first thought was Hatcher's replacement, but 271?

I guess we will see when the coach speaks again. But at 271 he isnt big enough to be a DE in a 3-4. And the team page is kinda calling him a linebacker. So Im thinking he will basically be an edge rusher for us.

3rd round go BPA at S, LB, tall WR, OG

But Kerrigan and Murphy play the run really well. We needed a pass rusher. One thing I know is that we will be solid against the run this year. You guys a right he is going to be an OLB.

Even more support after that pick. Scotty has done a excellent job so far in my book.
