Team Captains

Rams have named DE Chris Long, LB James Laurinaitis, QB Shaun Hill, and P Johnny Hekker as team captains for the 2014 season. - Jim Thomas (source)

Why is Hill named captain? If there is only one offensive player, shouldn't it of been Stacy?

I understand doing Long instead of Quinn because Long is the vet and they didn't want to do two dlinemen. Hekker is okay I guess but lackluster, but then again, so is our team.

Players vote on captains right? Or do coaches pick them?

I guess on every team I have been on it was coaches.

Quinn has stated in the past that he isn't interested and everyone sees Long as a leader in the clubhouse anyways. It is a natural progression. On offense, we are so young there isn't anyone close except for Britt and I suspect he is like Quinn in that regard.

I don't like Stacy as a captain, I could see him not even being the starter by mid season not to mention he isn't very experienced.
