How important though? Important enough to get a roster spot without contributing elsewhere?

No player had more than on punt return TD last season.

Sims, as bad as he was, was 16th in the league.

Sims was only 3 yards from top ten.

2 of those in the top ten had fewer than 5 returns. 1 guy with 4 and the other guy only 1.


My point is for Dean…Wright won’t make the team because of punt returning. That isn’t why he was brought here. It sure as hell doesn’t give him a roster spot. It could be a tie-breaker.

Okay, lets use a little common sense here. I certainly did not say a PR should be kept on the team as his sole position. Clearly it is a player that would perform at a backup position or a full time ST player. Hopefully with a good D the WTF will receive even more punts this year.

Again one of those 6 will be inactive . If carter makes the team he will have to contribute on offense .
Pretty easy concept because he would be active now wouldn’t he ?
if he ( carter) isn’t active then who returns punts? You guessed it humphries
So for carter to make the team he has to fucking contribute on offense


IIt’s pretty simple . Now carter is like 10th on the depth chart , so what does that mean dean ?
It means humphries , Franklin will have to return punts unless you go Wright or stroman . Wright is like 9th on the

my wrs are TM , Samuel , brown , most likely humphries . You have cam , Franklin , Harmon. Wright AGG all In there with Cam , Harmon and your boy AGG competing for 5/6 .

so one of 2 things HAS to happen , carter has to be able to contribute on offense , or humphries has return punts .

if Clifford Franklin can regain his form on punts and also be what he was as a rookie and in the playoffs then humphries is the odd man out along with carter

That is because the context of the conversation we were having with Dean. He thought Isaiah Wright was going to make the team because he was brought here to be the punt returner. Dad and I said he won’t make the team if he can’t contribute on offense.

I didn’t mention fumbles because it was not relevant to the conversation. That is probably the most important part for the returner…catch the damn ball.
