When I saw the title as Tate, I thought it was going to be Golden Tate. Thankfully, it's not.

Does this spell the end for Cosby on this team? He seems to be the odd man out to me. I don't see a place for him with Tate here.

Bengals roster moves: Claim on waivers: WR Brandon Tate; C-G Mike McGlynn, TE Mickey Shuler; Waive TE Chase Coffman, WR Quan Cosby, C Reggie Stephens. Sign to the practice squad: FB J. Develin, LB D. Evans, CB B. Ghee, WR A. Hawkins, QB D. LeFevour, T M. O'Donnell, DT J. Shirley.

Things that stick out: Signing Tate, Waving Coffman and Cosby (he's gone!), being able to retain Shirley and Ghee on the practice squad.

I like this move. Anything is better than Cosby returning punts. Plus Tate has more potential as a WR than Cosby. Is Coffman eligible for the PC?

I like Cosby on a personal level and as a Texas fan, but he just doesn't have the speed and talent. He's a hard worker and a good locker-room guy, but I want a good player.

Kind of shocked that Coffman never worked out. Then again, hard knocks proved that he was a slow learner.

Yeah as a fellow Horns fan i liked him in college, but don't want him anywhere near this team. Just doesn't have NFL skills. Coffman was a bust if ever there was one. Kid was ridiculous at Missouri, but couldn't block a lamp post and apaprently has the IQ of salad dressing

Coffman shocks me. not because I thought he had proven to be a great player, or even a servicable one, but for him to get cut after Bo Scaffe's injury in what's presumably going to be a TE heavy offense means they thought nothing of him

as far as Tate goes, he's a great kick returner and a major upgrade from Cosby in that role. I'll never forget his kick return to start the 2nd half of the game week 1 last season. I was shell shocked after that one...

with 99 percent of the kicks being touchbacks this preseason I'm not sure how much value he has as a player now. maybe Gruden's offense will be easier for him to pickup than the one the Pats run

Arizona and the Jets also put claims in on Tate, but the Bengals had priority.

Maybe Cosby will get picked up by the Jello pudding company.

Probably just depth. Stephens always seems like he's hurt, it that just me?

In regards to Cosby...not much of a kick returner, but did return punts pretty well. All-time franchise leader in yards per return at 10.0. Would have never guessed it.

That's because he called for a fair catch if somebody was within 20 yards of him.

Coffman is not an NFL tight end. If he were, a team would have picked him up last season when we cut him. Nobody paid any interest to the kid and he ended up back on our practice squad. My guess is that he's never learned how to block and he's too slow to be a pass-catching tight end. Great college player - Not enough talent to be a pro.

So who's returning punts now? Tate is just a KR isn't he. Too lazy to look it up. Would love to see Shipley return punts but I understand you don't want to get him hurt either.
