Not sure why but I thought this was hilarious

Me too. I like obvious answers, when they are not what the person was asking... or was it? I guess AC might have thought there was a luxury tax or a deferment of effect?

My dad asked my family as a hypothetical if someone would call their sibling who passed away/moved away before they were born a brother or a sister (meaning would they feel the kinship)? I told him, jokingly, that it depended on whether the kid was a boy or a girl (as if he didn't know what determined the brother/sister title).

Check the first post in the off-season thread. We start out with $2M and change with Brown's new salary.

Dodub, the answer to your question use to be found in whether these escalators were Likely To Be Earned (LTBE) or Not Likely To Be Earned (NLTBE). If the former then these dollars were part of this years salary cap, if the latter then those dollars will apply to next years salary cap.
