thats a shovel pass, just less motion.

I used the term that the announcer used for Goff's "pass" to Gurley. The announcer called it a "tap pass" and so I just presumed that's what they called it. I didn't know the name was going to be an issue. I didn't want to call it a shovel pass because that to me is more of an underhand improv or pass forward. Dropping the ball didn't really seem like a pass.

Did you all know, that a QB can throw the ball completely underhanded, downfield, and it's a legal forward pass?

There is no law that says the forward pass must be done in an overhand fashion, as long as the QB is behind the line of scrimmage.

Yes, there's no rule against it. I was just thinking that they get too much credit for it. It basically is a handoff or lateral but is used so the defense doesn't see the motion and so again, it's a smart football play. I just don't see that like a pass and I wonder how many "passing" touchdowns have happened in the past three or four years with this.

It's a more efficient shovel pass and the Rams and Chiefs both ran it to great effect. Is someone butt hurt over losing a fantasy game?

I call it a hospital pass, but :noidea:

lol wtf was his run after the catch? Looks like some 7 year old got way too excited about scoring a TD in Madden and lost control of the joystick.

There's 9+ minutes left and you're on the 1 yard line, was he really trying to run down the clock? :pound:

I don't do fantasy football. I'm just talking in general. They say that Mahomes had four touchdown passes. They say that Goff has two. I don't feel that those are the same. My mind categorizes these things differently than others. Maybe it's OCD instead of butt hurt.

I am ok with Qbs getting those stats. They eat shit stat wise all the time when some other player screws up. tipped ball, dropped ball, ran wrong route on timing which looks like a crazy stupid Qb throwing right to defenders. receiver quit on play right as QB throwing. Dez not knowing how to run a route. All kinds of things.

So I am ok with them getting this one give me from time to time.

I have never done fantasy football. My favorite player is Alex Smith so I obviously don't care about fantasy stats. I just didn't look at those glorified handoffs as passes. I also did say it was a smart football play because of the reasons I stated so I didn't say it was bad for football. Or for winning.

I get your point, but this is one is kind like the 2 yd pass that goes for a 60 yd TD...same concept, the RB or WR did all the work, and the QB gets credit for a 60 yd TD pass.

Pet peeve kinda deal.

Apparently, after all my complaining, Alex Smith, my favorite player, who isn't synonymous with stats, introduced the idea of the 1 yard glorified handoffs for touchdowns to the Chiefs. I'm not saying he invented it, because it might've been done by others before. (I'm not talking about regular shovel passes. I mean the toss in the air handoff.) I thought I saw Kaepernick do that a couple years ago a few times.

Did former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith help his old team beat the Chargers?

Sorry you lost week one fantasy...
Next week's thread. Why are punt returns for a Touchdown considered a touchdown:doh:

Haha, I don't play fantasy football. I just overthink things. If I played fantasy I would just keep all my favorite players and they are no good for week to week starting. I would have only streamers.

But ironically, my favorite player who is not a good volume guy for fantasy in passing is the one who encouraged or introduced the play to his successor, who had two touchdown "passes" this way this week.
