An example of not only peaking 'and a little bit of luck' is Oregon St in the Championship Series last season.

Down one game and down to Arkansas in the 9th with 2 outs.
Popped foul over between 1st base and the bleachers. 3 Razorbacks there and nobody fielded it. Dropped right in the middle of them. Instead of the 3rd out and Arkansas winning the National Championship series, it kept Oregon St playing and they won to force game 3.

Oregon St won game 3 and the National Championship.
