PHILADELPHIA – Terrell Owens sees NFL players making the police blotter and shakes his head.

Somehow, T.O. was the bad boy?

"You look at some of the stuff guys are doing now, domestic violence, players killing players, just everything," Owens said in an interview with The Associated Press on Thursday. "You have so many guys with off-the-field problems, drug issues, alcohol problems and they're still given second chances and third chances. They're putting them in rehab and keeping them on the team. I never had those issues. It's disappointing."

Owens played his last NFL game on Dec. 19, 2010. But the five-time All-Pro wide receiver still thinks he can play at age 40.

"They brought up my age when I was 35, 36 and I'm still in just as good shape as I was then," Owens said. "Jerry (Rice) played until he was 42. At 39, I ran a 4.43 40-yard dash. You look at the number of dropped balls and the way guys are playing now and you can't honestly say I can't do better."

T.O. returns to Philly for a roast, says he can still play in the NFL | Fox News

There is a lot more of the article. If you want to read it, go ahead.

I'd take him as a vet minimum, bottom of the roster training camp depth with the potential to earn that last spot.

Damn, this guy never gives up. Too bad he sucked when Seattle have him another chance. He couldn't hold onto the ball.

I have always had respect for TO for reasons he brought up. He was never in legal issues or abused substances. I also think most of his career, he was elite. He just didn't get along with many quarterbacks after a while.

However, he was given chance after chance. The last time, he talked about how great of shape he was and compared himself to his prime, and didn't make the Seahawks. I don't think he deserves another chance. Jerry Rice played in the NFL until he was 42, he wasn't gone for years and came back.

When he was in Seattle he looked like the speed and route running are still there. It was the hand-eye coordination that's gone.

How fast he is has nothing to do with having gator arms & unwilling to take a hit for a catch. If he could still play he would have still been playing.

He just didn't want to get hit anymore. Hence the gator arms and lack of hand-eye coordination. If he really wanted to play, he would've put his body on the line.

TO was a great route runner, but he was nowhere near as shifty as Jerry Rice. Older WRs usually have to adjust their game a bit. Isaac Bruce comes to mind.

Some of the catches he dropped he was well behind the defense and wasnt going to get hit, he just couldnt see the ball in to his hands. I just think that quick twitch muscle memory of recognizing where the ball is going and attacking it were gone. He was playing hard, but like all of us when we age a little bit, hand-eye coordination slows down just a little. Unfortunately in his profession there's no room for any regression in this area.

I remember hearing Rice talk about this same thing last preseason and he said that this was the final straw in his career too. Anticipation and quick recognition is everything for these receivers, once those start to go its over.

He does have a point...

Guys like him, Ocho and especially Moss really faded.

The guys were made out to be villians when in reality they were not the off(or in) season D-dub culprits. Or murders, or more importantly felons in general.

T.O. in his prime > Jerry in his prime

TO was the man. If every player shared his passion and desire for the game, there would be a lot more superstars in the NFL. He's right. Never got into off field trouble, and always came to play. Only reason the Eagles even had a chance in that SB vs. the Pats is because of TO.

He probably could come back. If Nate fucking Burelson has had a job the last few years why not TO, who a million times better?

I would LOVE for my Chargers to take him at the K minimum. Why the hell not? We need help at WR - but we can't use a high draft pick on one because we have other more important glaring needs. We can't make a splash in FA because we are right up against the cap.

Why not give Rivers a chance with TO? If it doesn't work, we bench him or cut him. If it works, him with Keenan Allen could be a nice pair for a year or so.

TO was given a second chance.

And a third, and a forth and so on.

Yes, he can still play - it's the diva crap that teams just don't want to deal with.

TO's playing days are done. Any team that decides to pick him up is just wasting a roster spot. I would rather pick up an undrafted raw talent over TO. He may not of had off the field issues, but his locker room issues were straight up cancerous. Combine that with deteriorating skills and you have time bomb waiting to explode.

How do you know he can still play? He hasn't done so since 2010. If he could still play, he would be on a roster regardless of the diva crap. There are plenty of diva's filling out rosters because they can play. TO is not one of them.

He's still got the skills to play - I never said he'd start, but I'm sure he can still play.
