If you get the top one they are nice for sure. And enough power.

I'm leaning to an Audi All Road for the missus.
Yeah the V90 is the top model I too am looking at the Audi. But it's hard to beat the seats in a Volvo and we travel a lot

I've been checking out the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Jeep Cherokee. I have never owned a Jeep so not sure how reliable they are? I have owned Hyundai pregnancy my entire life and had great luck with them. That being said, I may try something different this time. The Jeep looks stylish.

If we travel we're in the S55.

But for running about shopping and such, we need a replacement for the 2002 Maxima my wife has.

I have a friend that own a Hyundai he screams buyer beware. Had veh serviced drove it home engine started knock bam engine blew. Towed to dealer 4 weeks later he got the call " We fixed the engine" picked it up drove it home a few day's later same thing engine quits. In shop again they are saying the will replace engine.

Side not I have a friend who is a mechanic and he swears the computers in the Hyundias are bad. Just a heads up.

Any word how the Jeep Cherokee reviews? Performance, etc?

If you are driving around town with family and not going off roading then the CR-V is the best on the road. You want to hop off the pavement and not cringe at a little stream, the cherokee is the way to go. The 6 cyl has 271 HP. The Honda has 171 HP.

You should lease it, first. It's cheap that way: Jeep Cherokee Incentives, Deals, & Lease Offers. Find Your Dealer.

Then, after 3 years, you can just tell if you have one of those great cars that'll run forever. If so, buy it after the lease. If you have some concerns, then just hand it in and get something else. Leasing is like a 3 year test drive...and fully deductible if you work for yourself.

I have a 2018 Mazda6, and absolutely love it. I'd recommend looking at Mazda while car shopping.

Well, there are degrees of "best" and CR-V has the best ratings in several categories. Safety and cargo space beats out the jeep big time. The engine is capable but I do like the 3.6 in the Jeep much better.

Believe that CR looked at the Cherokee recently and said the 2.0l turbo felt a lot less powerful than the V6 despite having generally comparable raw power numbers. They did not like the model in general.

In 2015, I walked into a Dodge/Jeep dealer feeling pretty certain that I was going to start talking with them about numbers on a V6 Cherokee after a test drive and was shocked to find myself really hating it. I had a RAV4 V6 (RAV6) that was getting a little worn out and figured the Jeep would have comparable performance, maybe better as the Toyota would just jump off the line and often get bogged down a bit by its rather crude 5 speed tranny after that...the Jeep had 9 speeds or something crazy like that. The Cherokee really felt gutless compared to my Toyota, though.
It was funny when I told the salesman that the Cherokee didn't feel powerful, he turned to his buddy and said it had to beat the little 4 in my RAV and they laughed their heads off. I mentioned it had a 270hp V6 and they just looked at me with their mouths hanging open. I noticed that they were watching me out the window as I drove away and made sure to zip away as fast as I could with my tires shrieking.

This was a while ago and maybe the Cherokee has been improved....I think that tranny has been a reliability issue since the get go, though.

Now that Subaru has introduced a 2.4 liter turbo on the Ascent on their global platform I am left wondering if that turbo set up will end up in what is not the 6CYL Outback, I would think that would be a solid move by Subaru.

Model is getting old, but can't beat it. For only $10k more than an Explorer, you get a lot more quality that should be good for 250k miles:

I covet the Volvo V90 and I will buy one upon retirement but that and your Benz and other Euro cars all have the same concern, great ride, great quality, great maint costs. The one downside to Euro cars is repair costs. But like they say if you can't afford to keep it running don't buy it.

Yeah, you have to know a dude. The Euro car place near me is Benz certified, does a great job and is wayyy cheaper than the stupid dealership.

I've actually owned a 15+ year old MB before. I like to buy them from old snowbirds with very low miles.
You have to keep everything perfect for the car to make sense. If you run into an expense putting on a new timing chain or whatever, just know it's still cheaper than a new car.

And due your regular maint. Jesus if people would just do their scheduled maint. I currently own a 2014 Avalon and I take it to the dealer here in Gainesville, they honestly are not a lot more and I get certified parts.

Now when I owned my VW Passat Wagen, I had a guy VW Maint was real costly. Germans tend to over engineer things so they charge an over engineered price.

BTW, I think I mentioned a client had to lemon law one of those and Volvo was nasty about it. They were not customer friendly in this case and the car's electronics were chronically broken. The state forced Volvo to give him a full refund.

So, he walked in and bought an Audi Q7 and loves it.

Well if they put that Turbo in the Outback that moves real close to the top of my list. I have looked at Audi too, MB and BMW. It boils down mostly to the seats and the ride, the Volvo seats are amazing and we travel a lot. I just love the looks of that Wagon and I am geek for wagons.
