I jest wanted to try and code it.........I'm not sitting here beatin my meat over the fact that the fluke game against UCLA is the only thing keeping us from being the 9th best Defense in the country......

Or am I?

I don't doubt we have gotten better since that game, just not 9th in the country.

Nebraska answered a big question for me last Saturday night.

Could they run the ball against a top 20 rushing defense? If the answer was yes then that would be a 'tell' for about 4 other B1G defenses who also had highly rated Rushing Defenses.

Wisconsin came in at 13th and left at 31st. It answered my Ohio St question as they are 19th.

This game comes down to containing Braxton Miller AND limiting turnovers.

NU cannot give Ohio St the short field. Make Miller go the length of the field.

-Contain Braxton Miller

-Win the field position battle (Maher, lookin at you buddy)

-Limit turnovers.

Hundley is a better passing QB than Braxton Miller....

I would think we could give up some coverage to focus more on containing Miller's mobility.

The only thing that seems improbable out of the 3 is containing miller.

I thought we made adjustments last year after the first quarter already to slow down Miller........

He broke the one run right at the end of the 2nd quarter for about 30 yards to get them that field goal.......but that was seriously one of the most ridiculous runs of the entire season by anyone. He didn't just find a gaping hole, he slipped about 7 tackles on that play.

That was really his only run after the 1st quarter where he gashed us for 52 yards.

No doubt though after the 1st quarter we had players in place to tackle Miller......

Urban seems genuinely concerned about how they are going to beat our Defense......I know that coaches always say "it's gonna be a challenge," but this coach speak is a bit different.....

"Dynamic quarterback. Had a 92 yarder on the one I just flipped on. I didn't watch a lot of offense yet. I do that on Thursday. Very good defense, very sound. Much different defense than we've faced all year. The two gap, the defensive tackles are very active players. They have one guy that's 48, very active in the pass rush. They've had a very good pass rusher.

"The combination coverages are hard to figure out. They get no drops. When I pause the film sometimes when the quarterback is in the top of his drop, they get no depth. They're looking to receivers. They're all pattern match, as opposed to zone coverage teams do this. They don't move. They just read in routes.

"So the thing that's difficult about that, a lot of times their base stuff doesn't work against that. So we have to try some new things. I don't want to say immature team, but we're young. My head's kind of spinning right now because I just walked out of a meeting room that we're going to have to do some things that we haven't done. I'm not sure how we'll adapt to that. I'm glad it's home."

I don't think Bo and John think in these terms. They want to take away everything, every play. I'm sure they will come into the game believing that if the players EXECUTE, then they won't have to give up anything. I have a hard time trusting a lot of the d to do this, hope I'm wrong though.

But we could just injure him again. Contain him to the sideline.
Joking of course

If NU can do the other 2, he won't kill them

They're not gonna completely shut him down.
