2009 was obviously Bo's best defense here at Nebraska as head coach. We are on pace to best many of the numbers from that 09 season. Even through 5 games in 09 compared to the first 5 games this year it is shockingly better.

2009 through 5 games:
30 TFL
12 sacks
5 INT
25 pass break ups
17 QB hurries

2012 through 5 games
51 TFL
19 sacks
3 INT
24 pass break ups
18 QB hurries

In 09 we averaged 7.8 TFL/G and 3.1 sacks/g

So far this year we are averaging 10.2 TFL/G and 3.8 sacks/g

i think all this really shows is that this D is putting up the flashy type stats....the difference is that the 09 D was stout as fuck and didn't give up a lot of yards or points. look at YPG and PPG between the two years and im sure you will see a totally different story than what these stats show

Some numbers i looked up and have on the BS part 2.

Just heard a crazy stat about the team. So did some digging.

T.F.L Huskers this year tied for 5th place with 43 averaging almost 9 a game so far. Last year we had 61 for the whole season average 4.7.

Sacks Huskers are in 8th place with 19 averaging 3.5 sack a game so far. Last year we had 21 1.5.

Obviously this D will be Bo's best once we minimize the few coverage brain farts, and grt the communication down

This will be your best defense once you stop other teams from scoring so much.

We are actually on pace to force more field goal attempts this season than we did in 2009 though.......

Interesting....

Newsflash: UCLA is the only remotely good team we have played.

Check out the stats if ye ignore UCLA game.. jest curious

You really can't omit the UCLA stats tho. They are the most accurate regarding a mobile QB. Ohio St doesn't have a Franklin at RB though.

I pointed out in the Nebraska/Ohio St thread last night that the defenses #'s were improving at a rapid pace. Rushing D is improving but at a slower pace.

S. Miss
Rushing D- 74th
Pass EFF D- 23rd
Total D- 25th
Scoring D- 50th
Pass D- 7th
T/O Margin- T-31
Sacks - 20th
TFL - 24th

UCLA
Rushing D- 115th
Pass EFF D- 77th
Total D- 96th
Scoring D- 83rd
Pass D- 41st
T/O Margin- T-58th
Sacks- T-23
TFL- T31

Arky St
Rushing D- 111th
Pass EFF D- 40th
Total D- 73rd
Scoring D- 58th
Pass D- 25th
T/O Margin- 86th
Sacks- T-15th
TFL- 32nd

Idaho St
Rushing D- 86th
Pass EFF D- 23rd
Total D- 51st
Scoring D- 39th
Pass D- 20th
T/O Margin- 81st
Sacks- 5th
TFL- 13th

Wisconsin
Rushing D- 62nd
Pass EFF D- 27th
Total D- 35th
Scoring D- T-36th
Pass D- 27th
T/O Margin- T-86th
Sacks- 8th
TFL- 5th

Rushing yds vs NU

S. Miss- 47 for 216
UCLA- 56 for 366
Arky St- 37 for 163
Idaho St- 29 for 70
Wisky- 41 for 110

If you took out the UCLA game, NU Rushing D would rank 50th @ 139 YPG
Ohio St is currently 19th @ 100 YPG
Wisconsin went from 13th @ approx 90YPG, down to 31st @ 116 YPG after playing NU
