Excited to see the kid tomorrow. He's got a good pitchers name (Surkkkkkkkkamp). Sounds like a Mark Buehrle type pitcher, with a little less velocity.

Soooo, he's Barry Zito?

I wanted to avoid that, but he came to mind. He throws more of a slurve breaking pitch whereas Zito has the over-hand curve.

Also, Zeets is a nibbler, whereas Surkamp is more of a bulldog/Reuter type, but with a better fastball.

I must be getting old...I remember Reuter being the ultimate nibbler...I miss that guy...

One of my few good memories of the 2002 World Series was of him coming into Game 7 and shutting down Anaheim for four innings on one hit giving the Giants a chance to come back...obviously they didn't...but he showed me what a great Giant he was.

Need that lucky streak!

Nah, Woody wasn't a nibbler -- he didn't walk a ton of guys. Zeets, OTOH.....

He has a Zito pre 2007 fastball, a pretty loopy 11-5 curve, a slurvish knuckle curve, and a good change-up.

If I had to compare him to anyone in the majors, it would be Randy wolf.
