A different angle:
Most everybody is saying the SC is unlikely to hear the deflategate case. I think one of the handicaps to getting them to hear the case is not wanting to get involved in a CBA agreement to rescue a popular QB from punishment.
By Brady dropping the appeal and the NFLPA continuing, it makes the appeal more about labor law and less about football.
Will this be enough to get SCOTUS to pay attention? We won't know for awhile but I think it more likely.....
