maybe Wilson will offer Rahimi and White back to the Canucks - lol[/QUOTE]

The Wallin contract was HORRIBLE. If you go to the Sharks E#$N board, it's universally hated, lol.

LOL, that would be awesome. Apparently DWil is not going to sign either of them though and take next years 2nd Rounder from the Canucks. IIRC.

It would be funny for someone to tender Niemi an offer and stick them with Huet and Crawford....

Niemi/Hawks have elected to go to arbitration, therefore he's not eligible to receive an offer sheet. I like the way you think, though, I'm gonna be watching you :)

No problem, I was thinking that some GM might try to swoop in and nab Ian White from the Flames with an offer sheet, but they're going to arbitration, so that's one less thing to worry about.

I remember seeing 31 players filed this year, but didn't really look at the list very closely.

White is a servicable d-man, seemed to play at his best against the pens when he was with the leafs.

I have said before dash, the flames are probably my favorite western conference team, lets hope Feaster can help right the ship in some ways.

gotta say this will be one of the better 'trades' for the hawks though.. geting a 1st and a 3rd for hjal is a pretty good deal for their future IMO

what a terrible cap situation they are in. only half the team is gunna come back

oh and i got a question about the cap penalties the hawks are facing..

i know they are from incentives.. does anybody know if 'winning the cup' was one of the incentives that is now doing them in?

The Sharks desperately need a defenseman like Hjalmarsson, even though I'm not a huge fan of his, he's a lot better than most of the Sharks' current Dmen. It makes you wonder though, exactly what DWil has got in mind. Someone has to go if Wilson wants to keep Gooch. Like Filo said, it's been implied before that Seto doesn't want to sign an offer sheet. I wasn't sure how much truth there was in that, but the more I think about it, the more I think it may be true. I have a hard time believing that no one would have given Seto an offer sheet by now. What it does is give Wilson time to decide if he wants to move some of the smaller offending contracts, like Huskins or Wallin, or if he wants to move a bigger one like Clowe's. If he could somehow move both Huskins and Wallin and get a quality #3 or #4 defenseman back, to go along with Vlasic, Boyle, Hjalmarsson and Demers, the Sharks would actually start looking like a scary team next season.

Maybe, they'll likely be late round picks though.

the only incentive they are getting burned on is the Toews bonus related to winning the Conn Smythe that bumped their cap hit up by 1.3 mill i believe

the cause of their situation is bad contracts in Huet, Hossa and Campbell with a whole bunch of studs going to rfa at the same time

(not to mention how Bowmans son sabotaged Dale Tallon with that whole forgetting to fax the qualifying offers last off season that ended up costing the franchise more money to sign those rfas)

arent the hawks also still on the books (i think just a fine) because of paper work issues last year when signing RFAs? i recall something like this happening.

mm i knew about the contracts.. knew they had a bunch of RFA's.. barely remember the qualifying offers thing (now that you brought it up haha).. i just know they have like 5 mil in cap penalties, i thought mostly because of incentives.. thanks for the update

i'm amazed that more GMs haven't been stealing guys from the Hawks...there's absolutely nothing (for the most part) they can do about it. quite a pickle their in.
