Who ya got?

Keeping CP3 out of the argument, like this article says,

Steph $9 mil a year, Westbrook $14 mil a year, anyone with strong
thoughts?

I know I'm probably not going to get a "unbiased opinion" on
our Dubs board, but sound off.

Another slow sports day... Dubs going to play 7 games out of 8 days coming up?

Curry IMO because he makes everybody better and helps get everyone's shots.

Great question. Remarkably different ways to play the same position, it really becomes a matter of choosing which style you like.

Tie goes to Curry, based on the contract, which is actually $11M/year (not $9M, as was noted initially)

Size, speed, ability to finish at the rim, and the tie breaker in most folks eyes in the past we "health" which gave Westbrook the edge.

But with a commanding '12-'13 Finish to the season and playoff run, Steph "El Fuego/Human Torch" has launched himself and the franchise into the national spotlight. JO and Green's defense helped solidify the win vs Tankers / aka the Raptoers, but Without Steph and Klay Dubs don't score enough points to climb back.

Steph's Defense is underrated, he has shown the ability to finish at the rim more, even though he doesn't "dunk" like RW. I'll take SC's passing vs Westrook's passing skills anyday, + our team actually has Ander, HB, Klay, WCW, Bogut, to finish those passes. Lastly SC is probably the best shooter in the league not named Klay Thompson

Westbrook season ending knee injury last year, and at apparent side effects leading into this year, have to be a concern for oKC, the guy just signed a 5 years, $80 million contract has to be a concern.

Durant is a stud, but unless you have a Lebron , a very good Wade, and a capable big like Bosh, the "mega team" structure seems to be failing across the league. Aging Lakers failed, aging Nets failing, Mismatched Knicks failing.

Give me teams like SAS, IND, CHI (minus Rose maybe betrer), POR, and even our Dubs anyday.

For those of you making the argument En Fuego Man is a better player, how can you not say we're a better team than the Thunder?

I'd go with Westbrook for one reason: Defense.

Offensively it's hard to compare the two because their games are polar opposites. Westbrook is an explosive player who thrives at getting to the rim and the freethrow line. Curry is the best outside shooter in the NBA and is much more perimeter oriented in his play. Is one necessarily better than the other? Not really, however Westbrook's style of play is much more suited towards the grind it out play in the playoffs. You need a guy who can initiate his own offense and get to the freethrow line when times are tough getting a basket.

Defensively Westbrook is leaps and bounds better than Curry. Westbrook could even guard some 2's if need be. When the playoffs roll around you want to be able to play guys straight up rather than try to hide the worse defenders in the scheme. Danny Green killed us last year with Curry guarding him. If Klay was able to stay on him rather than guard Parker, that could have made all the difference.

Yes Westbrook has a tendency to have horrible shot selection. Yes he does have a knock of not making teammates around him better. However, Curry is still not without his flaws. He's still careless with the ball and turnover prone as well.

I don't think there's any real right answer, it just comes down to preference in style of play. I'd choose Westbrook.

I'd take Klay Thompson over Dwyane Wade...does that mean we're better than the Heat?

Spoelstra would take Klay vs Wade at this point since Wade is inactive.

CHI, even without Rose, made MIA look horrible.

Getting back to the thread subject, if you put Westbrook on this team, are the Dubs better? NO.

You put Steph on OKC, and he would elevate that roster to the WCF. Jeremy Lamb would look like the second coming.

If you just plug and play Westbrook for Steph, the Warriors are not better. But like I said that's because their roles and skill sets are different. If the Warriors had Westbrook, they would be a totally different team. If they alter the team to fit his skill set I believe they would be better.

Offensive skills are shoot, pass and drive, and each player is strong in two of three. Steph is pass and shoot, Westbrook is shoot and drive. Westbrook gets the overall nod from me for his D, though Curry is better suited to the Dubs roster and style of play offensively than Westbrook would be.

And Westbriook can get fouled any time he wants. Curry cannot.

Two different types of players.

I love Curry's shot, but Westbrook can beat you in so many ways. He is also the better defender and the better athlete overall. Although he's a pretty arrogant player, I would take him over Curry to be quite frank.

Having trouble watching the Dubs vs Cats,

How many shots would it take Westbrook to hit 20 three pointers?

Steph only needed 22

Breaking news on KNBR, apparently RW is out with arthroscopic knee surgery through the ASG?

How much does the Thunder regret not keeping Harden now?

I've often thought about RW vs SC. I love Russ and it's too bad he's going to miss so many upcoming games. He is the most exciting player in the game, bar none. I think both are stars but because Westbrook can get to the basket and fly above the rim, I give him a slight edge. Also, he's played in more meaningful games than has Steph. The other PG that I think has upside and can get a lot better is John Wall. Then there's Damon Lillard. I dont think the injury or surgery is going to have lasting effect and I think Rose will also come back next year and be about the same player we think he is with perhaps some minor adjustments.

They will fall off, but I wouldn't say they are done, if Westbrook comes back in the 2nd half. First of all they have a ridiculous 24-5 record, that's a lot of padding to fall back on. Second, they can still win games without Westbrook. Last year while Westbrook was out in the playoffs, they went 2-2 against Houston. They went 1-4 against Memphis, but that was a very strong team. And their win over Charlotte last night shows they can still beat bad teams. So while OKC will probably drop in the seedlings, I don't think we've seen the last of them, they will be back and will still potentially be in the way of the Warriors.

Bump, Dubs are playing better currently than OKC. OKC just happens to have a better record.

For the record, I would take Steph 10/10 all day , all night.

I believe Steph will have a better career, after its all said and done. When Steph loses his speed and handles, he can still spot up and be deadly outside shooter. RW is going to be a undersized 2 guard who can't get to the rim if his injuries mount up.

Only thing, I could really say RW has over Steph, is his Allstar game appearances and Team USA work.
