Step 2: Kill the Kings

This hard fought ducks victory is only good if they can follow up with a thorough trouncing of LA, or at least two points. They obviously realize that they can't take a single game for granted at this point, because pretty soon the season will be 1/4 over.

It was definitely a good game in a few ways for this team. The major one is protecting a third period lead, which the team was really successful at for most of last year (I think they were 22-0-0 at one point last year when leading after two periods).

However, they still are going to have to score more than two goals a game. Hopefully they can put together more wins to make that process a bit easier.

But, like you said above, they need to focus on the Kings now.

I thought the defense looked fantastic.

This game looks like one that's falling into the Devils hands with Doughty out of the lineup, but they can't fall into that trap. This is still an offensive team with a hot goalie. That's a formula for a tough, tough game.

Right now the Kings are showing they can get things done even with out Doughty.

Are the Devils ever going to score again?

Kings seem to always play the Devils tough.

But we could see a lot of good signs in LA game. They had fire and they should keep it this way. Add a little more creativity closer to opponent net and scoring will come. Those long distance shots in Devils performance are not effective. They should use more rebounding shots and quick pass and shot accross the goalie.
