This one just has to make you want to puke. Ball is clearly in his glove and Donald's foot is two steps away from the bag. Shameful.

Trust me, I could imagine. Things like that stick with you. I am still hurting over the Beltran strike out in 2006 :(

Ask GBR how I feel about Nebraska's shared NCAA Football National championship in 1997. :D

I look at the Indians lineup, where's Hayes, Vaughn, Taylor, Dorn, and Cerrano?

I'd also like to hear Grapes attempt to pronounce Mark Grudzielanek...

Harry Doyle: That's all we got, one goddamn hit?
Colo(u)r guy: You can't say goddamn on the air.
Harry Doyle: Don't worry, nobody is listening anyway.

In Baltimore for years we had Brooks Robinson doing games on TV. It was great when he was tasked with reading the lineups. It was not quite Les Nesman Chi Chi Rodriguez level, but close.

I still cannot believe no one talked Joyce out of the call or that he just didnt err to the side of preserving the perfect game. If the runner beats the throw by half a step and he is called out, no one protests too much. Probably not.

When Ryan Dempster was with the Cubbies, he did a great Harry Carey impersonation. I'm not sure if this was actual commentary during a Cubs game, but this was the general gist of Harry watching a couple of Cubs fans and talking to his partner Steve Stone during the game:

Dempster (as Carey): "I finally figured it out, Steve - He kisses her on the strikes and she kisses him on the balls"

I think he mentally talked himself into it. "I'm strong - I know it's a perfect game on the line, but if this runner is SAFE then he's SAFE. I will not bow to pressure!!"

Asshole.

And no one has thought more about that than Jim Joyce. Man, what a strange experience that all was. Took years off Joyce's life I bet.

The death threats were a little much, I admit that.

And I did not phone a single one of those in. :peep:

Well Robocop is throwing out the first pitch at the Tigers game tonight, so I think everything has worked out.
