Not sure how true this is and the O's were never parting with Westburg, Basallo or Mayo.
I’m surprised that Creed Willems isn’t mentioned more as trade bait. He seemed to start finding something while in Bowie and did very well in the AFL. He’s being blocked by both Adley and Basallo, so it’d be easy to part with him.

Not that Westburg didn't break out but I think there is more. Perhaps one of the 3, Westburg, Cowser or Holiday break out in a big way this year.

According to baseballtradevalues.com's model, the estimated values for these players at the beginning of 2025 are as follows:
  • Dylan Cease 33.6M
  • Jordan Westburg 59.1M, Coby Mayo 43.7M, Samuel Basallo 17.6M
So even a one-to-one swap involving Westburg or Mayo would be a gross overpay. Interestingly, someone suggested this trade that would be fair on paper:
  • Mountcastle (8.2 M) + Povich (16.9 M) + Dylan Beavers (8.2M) for Cease
While this seems tempting, the main downside is that the Padres probably won't accept it... plus that this could end up as another "Ortiz and Hall for Burnes" situation (i.e. another rental), which is why the Orioles should look for other options.

Definitely agree with this

I had us finishing runner up to NY. Now, I have bumped us down a notch to 3rd. We just haven't done enough this off season.

The FanGraphs main "playoff odds" model agrees with you even before this move by the Red Sox... although the ZiPS model is more optimistic, and the FanGraphs projected depth charts are still projecting the Orioles as the 2nd best AL team after the Yankees from the standpoint of team WAR even after this. Either way, the "official" projection for the Opening Day roster is currently identical to that of FanGraphs.

From birdswatcher.com:

Bradish has been working through his rehab process and throwing program, and has been in Sarasota since before the start of spring training. So far, there have been no setbacks and the righty is "checking all the boxes" according to manager Brandon Hyde.

Bradish has since revealed that he was pitching through elbow discomfort in late 2023 and through the early months of 2024. There was no regret from Bradish for waiting to get surgery, Bradish stated "I think that if I would have gotten the surgery in January, there kind of would have been a little regret and questioning if maybe I didn't have to get surgery."
  • The good news: There is a chance that Bradish could return near the end of the 2025 season (or at worst in 2026).

  • The bad news: Does this reflect poorly on the team management? (With the benefit of hindsight, they probably should have shut down Bradish as early as later into the 2023 season, or at least suggested doing the Tommy John surgery in early 2024 since the PRP route ended up simply delaying the inevitable...)

Hopefully that isn't another Means situation like it was in 2023 when he tried to get back before the season ended and then ended up getting hurt again. I'd rather him just not pitch this season and wait until 2026 and have him fully healthy.
