There is no reason for owners to have winning as a top priority. This cannot be explained more if it were put to a Barney-style song and somebody put on the outfit and did a dance to it.

Even the way Stanton phrases their approach to making it a winning franchise reeks of perfunctory BS: “I intend this team to win, have a winning record every season, be in the playoffs most seasons, and we will win a World Series".

Dodgers? $69 million in profit

stanton with his double talk about market sizes is extremely insulting. he says it because he knows how stupid the m's fanbase is in general and they'll just eat it up.

both of those teams have much larger markets than the M's, but they invest a much more significant portion of their revenues (60% vs Stanton's 40%) back into their teams. why? because winning is the biggest priority for these clubs.

again, these are numbers after total revenue minus salary for players and $150 in overhead to run an MLB team on average.
