Based on the mechanism, and his reaction, my guess is he dislocated his shoulder.

EDIT: And I say that because it was an awkward shoulder motion with a bit of an over extension, and hockey players don't go off the ice that quickly unless it's severe.

Healing time for a dislocated shoulder is 4-12 weeks for normal people. An athlete might be faster but I'd be shocked if he dislocated his shoulder and made it back for anything in this series.
