Last week in the game thread setup, I included a segment titled "What they are saying" which gave us sport writers perspectives on the upcoming game. Some were left out because of unavailable space, given that restriction, I thought that I would give them their own space. So without further ado, here's...

The Pack by at least 17 points. Writer Vincent Franks seems to be suggesting Fitz might be the answer.

I think Fitz needs to play when he is healthy. Not sure it makes any difference.

I don’t think Fitz will be mobile enough or be in football shape

Yeah, I always give the edge to the Packers when it’s at Lambeau, I think it’ll be close too, GB plays a lot of cardiac classics that go both ways, it’s just missed sometimes when every few games GB’s opponent scores a go ahead TD or FG with a minute left on the clock and then Rodgers chucks up a Hail Mary or completes 10 6 yard passes in rapid succession leading to a win.

Either way, good luck to both teams.

Both teams are pretty banged up but having a franchise QB makes all the difference. I'm hoping we play competitively for 4 quarters and don't completely humiliate us fans again. a special teams TD might make it interesting. Carter is having himself a year.

Also, I don’t post a great deal on here but I do visit many threads just as an observer; and let me say that your team board is awesome because all of your guys’ devotion to this franchise despite all the bullshit is uplifting and it really makes me enjoy the game more knowing that we’re all just out here hoping for W’s.

I should probably say something like this in the Lions’ board but I think they checked out. Lol

I remember a few posts with you last time our teams met. think y'all beat us, heh, but I seem to remember a decent game where Terry had an amazing catch.

I always enjoy when the opposing team joins in the conversation, they know their teams best. nothings worse than an echo chamber, especially with all the FAILS we have to endure as a fanbase due to our FO. Thank you for your compliment. cheers!

About Fitz playing...

Here's an excerpt from a news article posted 21 hours ago;

(By RotoWire Staff, 21 hrs ago1 min read)

"Coach Ron Rivera revealed Friday that Fitzpatrick (hip) hadn't yet undergone an MRI to evaluate his progress, John Keim of ESPN.com reports."

'A couple weeks back, there was talk of Fitzpatrick returning for Washington's upcoming Week 7 contest in Green Bay. That clearly won't happen, and the lack of an update makes it seem like Week 8 might be a stretch. After that, Washington has a Week 9 bye and a Week 10 home game against Tampa (Nov. 14), with the latter making some sense as the target date for a return. It is possible Fitzpatrick rejoins the team in a backup role, though Taylor Heinicke's recent performance trends toward the veteran reclaiming the starting gig.'

With all of the talk about a Fitz return, I began to wonder how much difference his presence would make in outcomes of games already played. So, comparing Heinicke's stats in those games, vs. stats compiled by Fitz in his last 3 seasons. The results are extremely close yet not really a surprise to me. That comparison;

Taylor Heinicke (2021): 5 G, 8 TD, 5 INT, 5.0 TD%, 3.1 INT%, 64.2 CMP%, 241.6 Y/G, 7.6 Y/A, 90.0 QB rating

Ryan Fitzpatrick ('18-20): 32 G, 50 TD, 33 INT, 4.9 TD%, 3.3 INT%, 64.8 CMP%, 249.6 Y/G, 7.9 Y/A, 91.8 QB rating

Make what you will about these comparisons but they are pretty doggone close. Would Fitz's experience made a difference,? That, we'll never know, however, these numbers suggest that the outcome of previous games played, probably would have been exactly what they are now.

yeah, it'll be interesting to see if they go back to Fitz. I've always thought the most likely time would be after the bye, if he's healthy enough. 10 mill is still 10 mill after all. I believe he'd have done a better job in the Saints and KC game, mainly cuz Heiney wasn't playing to his strengths -albeit limited in certain ways.

The unspoken part of all of this is the original commitment to Fitzpatrick. I'm sure that RR and Co. are itching to see if he's actually cracked the NFL's QB code.

key line that is always the argument on this board and others...

“Don’t pass up the franchise QB if he drops in your lap, but build your team soundly enough so that a “good enough” QB can compete for the Lombardi.”

pretty sure I know where you stand on this, heh
