The Lions stayed competitive until the 4h quarter. Part due to their defense and part because Carolina's offense wasn't much better than Detroit's.
Nate Freese is officially stressed out and mentally finished IMO. Time to call Jay Feely but Caldwell will probably give him 1 more week. The two misses really hurt Detroit. Good drives and to walk away with no points is demoralizing. I don't think the Lions would have had much faith if it came down to a FG attempt.
Bell needs to hold onto the fucking ball. He very well could have had another fumble if the review hadn't called an incomplete pass instead of a fumble and it was very close!

Stafford seemed hell bent on getting CJ the ball instead of spreading it around. Fauria 1 catch? Pettigrew 0. The Panthers game plan was to make anyone but CJ beat them and it worked. I see it as a total breakdown of play calling.
The defense played 3 good quarters but just wore down. They really need a OLB that is a threat to blitz every down and wreak havoc. But again 3 good quarters but you need 4 to win in the NFL.
I just wonder if Caldwell grasp the win now urgency? If he does Freese is cut by Wednesday and a guy like Champ Bailey is signed to be the nickel. I am glad Carolina had some drops as well or that game could have gotten ugly early.
