Prior to the start of the season, I had the Rams as the team to beat in the Super Bowl. They still might end up being just that, but all I know right at this moment is we have a shot of catching them for the all-important HFA, in particular getting that first week off. I know a ton of 'ifs' go along with this train of thought, starting first and foremost needing to win each game we play. But at least in theory, if they lose tonite we'd have only one more loss than them, with of course the potential mega matchup three weeks down the road. So that means I'm pulling for the Chiefs.

I will be pulling for the Chiefs too and for the same reason. But I think the Rams are the more complete team and will win.

Wow, what a fucking game tonite! I have no idea how the hell we're gonna stop the Rams. As I alluded in another thread, we may have to bank on Mother Nature lending us a helping hand.

Well, the Bears have a much better Defense than KC, IMO.

Agreed, but the Rams have so many weapons, they are going to be a bitch to stop, which is why I'm hoping the weather can be an ally for us. Gotta say too, outside of Aaron Donald, I'm not too impressed overall with the Rams D, at least in terms of consistency. The one exception was the play tonite from Samson Ebukam. But it was really a lot of him being in the right place at the right time. Donald, damn that dude can play.

Yeah. As much as I love Mack, Donald is the best defensive player in the game. Playing in the interior like that too. And, we were one pick away from drafting him.

I think if Mack was healthy for the entire season, it would have been an interesting race to see who would be crowned the best defensive player in the NFL. But even a 100% healthy Mack would have a tough time beating out Donald. One can only imagine how a defense would look with both of those guys on the same team.

Donald is the best in the league, but honestly, Hicks is pretty great too.

Our D is as solid and complete on every level, maybe as much as it's EVER been. I can't wait to see them the rest the way.

I am anxiously awaiting today's presser, praying that Trubs' shoulder injury is nothing serious.

If the season ended today, I see 4 Bears as all but a lock to make the Pro Bowl:
Mack
Jackson
Hicks
Fuller

Altho not receiving the amount of press they deserve, I also see two more for at least consideration:
Goldman
Trevethan

Lol......As much as I like our def.....The Bears of 85 has been considered by many as best ever......And I think the 86 team was even better if my memory serves me right........Even the late 80s teams were damn good....

Pray for snow

Gurley is still a bruiser.....Snow is not stopping him......
And I believe they didn't use Gurley enough last night for whatever reason......I think the Rams could have held the Chiefs to about 40 pts.....

Ya, they were awesome. Pretty tough to compare teams 30-plus years apart tho. Can you honestly say that ANY athlete from 35 years ago, could compete with their peers from today? I think that's a silly suggestion, personally.

What the Bears did in '85 was special and will likely never be duplicated, but the game has changed a whole lot, is now much harder on the defense. It's an offensively-catered league.

Not that this has anything to do with the discussion, but I am so fucking sick of the 85 Bears. I really would be perfectly fine never hearing the fucking term again.

The Bears wanted Aaron Donald, but sat on their thumbs, hoping he would fall one more pick. He obviously didn't.

Fuller is a stud too. Arguably playing better at his position than anyone in the league right now.

But still.

Even tho it was different GMs and coaches, I always felt that somehow factored in to what the Bears did with Trubisky in the draft. Nothing to back that up, just a hunch er what have you.

The guys of today are bigger and stronger than ever......I remember William Perry being one of the largest dlineman playong then at that point and time, but now every team has a couple of 320 lb lineman......This team we have now would murder the 85 team, but I always refer back to the quality of the players of the era's they were in.......And I do not believe this year's team is of equal value.....js,and it's fun to talk about tho....

And I never get tired of talk I g about them cause I was 22 and loved every second of that year and Renner it.vividly.......
