The shallow pool has gotten...well, shallower. Any big names still out there? With some of these guys waiting the amount of money available has dropped big time. Basically most of the contenders are probably done outside of tweaking here or there.

Some names I got from TSN:

Tim Connolly
Jason Arnott
Simon Gagne
Anti Miettenen
Tomas Kabrle
Tomas Voukon (who may be stuck with less money or a bad team, not a big market for goalies out there)

I think the Stamkos thing is something like this: while all other teams are off spending all of their money, Tampa just sits and waits. Basically, with every FA signing they're taking suitors off the map. Eventually, Stamkos has to agree to slightly less money, because no one else will step up with a big money offer.

The approach I thought my team would take as well to match them.....

Then Jagr happened, then Lilja, then fucking TALBOT

Not that the combination of those three equates to Stamkos, but it's a slightly safer avenue. And cheaper without draft picks.

And seriously, our division does not need anymore star power. We've reached our max.

And this is a bad thing? Talbot is our new Laperriere, Jagr help our gawd-awful powerplay alot, and....well, Lilja isn't any worse than OD, and he's cheaper :p

Not a big market for goalies? We got a 1ST AND A 2ND FROM VOL for VARLAMOV! In a deep draft to boot. Market for goalies looks pretty sweet if you ask me

I'm just saying there's not a lot of teams that need a bonafide #1 right now. Not an expensive one. Still not certain why COL went that route, considering how much they paid Varly in salary on top of the cost of the trade. Younger I suppose.

Antii Miettinen to the Sharks would be a good offseason imo.

He's going to LA via Rangers, Toronto, Buffalo, Vancouver, and the Islanders where his rights get traded each time.

This is because he does not want to play for all the listed teams, including the Devils.

In the end, he signed with LA only because training camp was starting and Zach needed the money so he can hit Vegas.
