Roman Turek has announced his retirement after a five year stint in the Czech league.

Had some good years in the NHL, came to Calgary, signed a big dollar contract, and then suffered from "Turek's syndrome" - a disease that caused an inability to stop hockey pucks coupled with fans screaming curse words at their tv set.

He had me fooled too. I thought he was going to be a solid goalie in Calgary.

For awhile there, Pronger, MacInnis along with a young Barret Jackman and Bryce Salvador were making every young goalie look like the second coming of Ken Dryden. Remember Brent Johnson's 3 playoff shutouts, Roman Turek, Curtis Sanford, et al. They were only giving up like 20 shots a game under Coach Joelmo Queneville.
