Hi all,

I traveled back to Pittsburgh to get married this past weekend. Having lived in Atlanta for the last year and a half, I had completely forgot what it was like being in a city that loves the sport. Even though the top guys were either out or limited, the draw was still an amazing experience. The young people have really turned that culture around from being about 100% football to closer to a 50/50 split. Next week, I'll be comparing it to Destin, FL! :hat:

Haha, thanks. The wife and I had been together for 8 years (since 17 years old), so it's about time. I also forgot how much easier it is to drive there (outside of the construction on I-79). Good times.

been gone close to 4 months, but this doesn't surprise me. in the 15 or so years i lived there i think i-79 was construction-less for 2 weeks, total.

and congrats.

I went to school on 79 for four years, and I never made a trip home that didn't involve construction.

The turnpike's worse, though.

And congratulations, DC! :clap2:

Thanks Jeff and Awaz!

I'm not sure how it's decided by PennDot to do construction everywhere at the same time, but 79 in the South Hills was just ridiculous. A few people missed the rehearsal because of it.

I-79 through PA sucks. Hit it every time I make the drive from Charlotte to Buffalo and it's always under construction.

And the annoying section around Pittsburgh where the signs say it's gonna drop to 55 MPH for the next 9 miles and it ends up being like 40 miles before the speed goes back to 65.

I agree 100%, I-79 must be the worst interstate I have ever traveled on and I've been on a lot of them. Always under construction and the roadway still sucks!!

No offense to my PA friend.

It's bad, but I'm gonna have to give the nod to I-277 here in Charlotte. Probably doesn't count totally since it's only a 4.5 mile loop around downtown, but still...it makes the Scajaquada (yep, still know how to spell it) look well designed.

A few highlights:
- When traveling southbound, there's an exit that is specifically signed for Brevard Street. However, to get to Brevard Street, you have to cross three lanes of traffic in about half a city block.
- Also when traveling southbound, there's an exit that is signed for 3rd St./4th St. However, BY DESIGN, to get to 3rd street from the exit, you have to pull a U-turn at the bottom of the exit ramp. On top of that, to even get to that exit, you have about 1/8 of a mile to get across two lanes of merging traffic from Independence Blvd.

Ugghh...now I'm angry just thinking about it. :yell:

that sounds awful.. worst city i've been in for getting around was atlanta (haven't done much in charlotte, just by-passing the city, and going to the acc championship game last year).. memo to atlanta: you cant name every street peachtree (random extension) and expect people to understand.. peachtree blvd, peachtree st, peachtree rd, peachtree avenue, peachtree pkwy.. its just ridiculous.

Yes but the Scajaquada isn't part of the interstate highway system and it runs through a park.

Coincidently, that's where I live now. What's worse? I just want to see where I end up in a couple of years.

@jeff, I wasn't able to make any picks in time. 429 emails to go through today. Oh Mondays...

Once again, thanks everyone!

First off Congrats but I don't remember a time where I-79 hasn't had construction. But as all PA residents know the turnpike is the worst road in the country.

Anyway I go to Atlanta (alpharetta) a lot for work and as I tell everything that is the worst city for traffic. So I pay my 50cent toll 400 to miss spagetti junction or where 285 and 75 meet.

My experience with ATL driving was always as a visitor, but yeah, it can be pretty bad. The Peachtrees have already been pointed out, but otherwise, I feel like it's more of a capacity issue than a design issue for most of the highways.
