I dont remember any official rankings having us winning the division. In fact, most had us 3rd or 4th. Everyone kinda thought last year was a fluke and we backed into the division championship.

Beating the Eagles at Philly is not backing in the division championship. I disagree with you there.

First, it wasnt me who said it, it was almost all the pundits. Second, they believe it because the rest of the division was so weak and faltered that we won by default. Which, in a sense, was true.

Even after the Romo injury? Plus how can socal or anyone for that matter predict KC to regress? We drafted the best WR in the draft. Jackson was healthy and we picked up Davis who is a good veteran. Im not being bias, I was just looking at the roster in August and saying that we have a ton a depth at the skilled positions.
You would have to ask socal or anyone else who believed that. There was some wisdom in believing that he might regress a bit. Hell, even the FO thought is might happen, hence no long term offer.

But backing in means losing multiple games in a row and still making the playoffs.

That is your definition. Not sure Webster's would define it as such.

Redskins have a chance to get to the playoffs but I think they have to win out to get in IMHO
Lots of moving parts yet in the machine but things will clear up I think after this weekend
Philly looks like they are lost with no WR help for the offense and I don't think they can make the playoffs
NY all depends on which Eli Shows up each game same with Greenbay and Rodgers

To be honest I don't want to see yall again this year while it was a exciting game and I think we could win again my ability to get forgiveness from the Good Lord for the nasty words I said with the Cowboys on defense during that game might have used up my allocation for the year.

:suds: to your chances the rest of the way

So the you think the Redskins need 11 wins to get a wildcard? 9-6-1 might just do it. Especially if the Giants keep losing.

If you were cursing your defense, just imagine what most in Redskins nation were saying about our defense! IF you wanted, you could have rushed for over 200 yards against us. We had no ability to stop your rushing attack. Thats why we had to do the onside kick after the Jackson TD. Everyone (well almost everyone) knew no matter where you got the ball, you were scoring again. We were on the wrong side of a shoot out and had to try and flip the momentum so that you were chasing us.

Actually, I thought KC and Zeke's would have these years. Dak...nope but I don't think it will continue either.

i dont know about any of you but when i make a prediction i factor in injuries and production going down in a career year ETC ,

i give a damn about dallas the giants or the eagles i evaluate our team so i dont have the "dak excuse " when my predictions start to go south

now i see why we have coach hate from dean . he doesnt look at our talent or lack there of

he see's barry as a joke when in fact he is doing what the fan base is pining for but his d/line cant execute because they cant beat blocks just a draw can be earned

breeland isnt having the year he usually does and fuller is playing like a 3rd round draft pick in year one dunbar hasnt made the jump yet so perhaps its another year before he arrives

he sees gruden as a joke because we simply dont have the type of RZ wrs we need who can beat someone with their body

i have maintained that this team would "tease us a bit " and show what we could be against lesser teams or even our equals but we arent quite there yet to consistently beat the big boys

2 years ago we were the rotten punch line to a bad joke

this year we are on the cusp of being REAL contenders and not pretenders

I don't think that it really speaks poorly about the Redskins overall. They made the playoffs last season mainly because of circumstances. I really didn't expect that much this season. They are still rebuilding but showing signs of heading in the rt direction. Defense will be the priority this offseason & should move them closer to the pt of competing just about every season for quite a while. Getting there.

I don't think you understood what I was saying, it is sad that we can't point to back to back years where the Skins were in the hunt for the playoffs in the last 20ish years. It is a big deal that we can do that the last two years.

Its clear as glass. We're presently the 6th seeded playoff team. If we win out. We'll end up as the #1 wildcard team if the Giants lose another game before they see us in week 17. If the Giants don't lose till they see in week 17 and we win out. We'll be the #2 wildcard team. Our destiny far as getting into the playoffs is completely in our control at present.

And it would be a pretty deal, at least to me, if we make the playoffs two years in a row for the first time since 1991/1992.

It was realistic that Dak or Elliot would be MVP of the league? lol cmon man.

Did I state that? No. I said that Elliott would be a factor. Do you pay attn. to anything with the history of this team or the NFC-E? Who cares that there were injuries or young QBs on other teams. The recent history of the NFC-E basically suggests that no team repeats as division champ. In addition the Redskins have generally found ways to mess things up regardless of the opponents. Do you just conveniently ignore things like this?

Also - objectively - how would anyone really know if Cousins would continue his success this season? Last season he only beat teams w/ losing records and many QBs who do great for one season (or less than one season in this case) turn in subsequent poor seasons. Heck - Cousins even appeared at risk to be heading in this direction early in the season.

I am not stating that it was a given that Cousins and the Redskins would have issues - just that it was a possibility and a risk heading into the season. It was be no means a lock that the Redskins would win this division (even w/o Prescott's success).

You really need to stop looking at things strictly via Burgundy and Gold glasses. I also root for the best for this team & I am excited that there is more positive than negative at this time, but let's try and be realistic.

Fair enough - understand. Times are a changing. Amazing what a decent FO and some stability will do for an organization.

And a lack of depth & overall talent on the defense. That is why I thought heading in that this team was built more for 2017 than 2016. This is also why this team realistically is now a team that has a good shot at the playoffs and not a legit contender (would love to be wrong). Thankfully they also addressed the running game somewhat but heading in that was also a huge area of concern.

I was looking at the overall rosters. Others agreed we have the best talent on offense. It was just a shock that Dak and Elliot are doing what they are doing. KC has the best talent around him in the division. That is not a homer statement its just fact.

In August no predicted that Dak and Elliot would do this. Of course the Romo injury mattered in August. History shouldn't mean anything b/c team rosters change every year and injuries should have a factor. People were betting against us b/c of our schedule not our talent.

Everyone thought in August that the Panthers, Cards, and Pack would be the top three teams in the NFC.

Actually it asnt a shock. Behind that O-line it was almost assumed Zeke would be a dominant player provided he didnt get injured and the line itself stayed healthy.

As for DAK, we have seen this quite a few times actually. He is doing now what Russell Wilson did a few years back, and what RG3 did for that matter.... ride the running game and take what the defense gives you if and when you decide to pass the ball. I think it works, and continues to work for DAK as long as the offense can get ahead fast, or at a minimum keep it close. It will be interesting to see what he does if he is ever forced to come from behind by say two scores with little time left.

I agree with you on Elliot but not on Dak. Dak is making some big time throws as a rookie. You cant compare him to a Rg3 or Luck b/c he was a 4th round pick. Yes he compares to Wilson but Wilson also had a dominate defense plus made a lot of plays with his legs. Dak is the biggest surprise this year in the league
