This is a very good point. Alex Smith does indeed seem to win a lot, and the best example of his value to a team might be his time with Washington.

He doesnt make many mistakes - although he does make some - and by throwing high percentage passes close to the LOS, he helps mitigate any ball insecurity.
The problem most recently though is that teams dont respect his deep ball, because he doesnt throw any, and thus he becomes a one dimensional check down artist extraordinaire. When ypu couple that with being unable to escape any pressure, its no wonder that the WFT could get nothing going in the second half against the Eagles.

At full strength, Smith could at least throw a pretty nice 15 yard slant pass to Terty Mac to keep defenses honest. Now? Ten yard hooks are about it.
That’s not gonna cut it.
That is the problem. Defenses start to stack the LOS. Even if he connects on check downs, the receiver is tackled almost immediately. Alex has to take some deeper shots for no other reason that to keep the defenses honest. In his physical condition on Sunday, he couldn't really do this.

why in hell would the lions take the cap hit to trade or cut stafford ?
I could be mistaken. Wouldn't be the first, but they can save 20 million if they do it post June, and every possible cap casualty article I've read recently has him listed on it.

I just showed you he is a career 62% passer.

I just showed you he is a 62% passer on less than 7 YPA.

He does miss that many throws and refuses to throw into any coverage. He has had one singular great year in his career and that is what you think he is. It isn’t. Nick Foles had one great year too.

That TD to Thomas Sunday night the defender was all over him. I know he checks down alot. He was brought here b/c of his smarts and accuracy. Plus being a vet and winner helped too. It didnt work out b/c of the injury. Before the leg injury we were on on way to a division championship.

At-risk Players:

Matt Stafford 2020

Matthew Stafford, QB

I think this ultimately depends on whether or not the Lions believe they can land one of the top signal-callers in the draft. Detroit has already fired head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn and Detroit has not made the playoffs since 2016. All signs are pointing to the roster being blown up and with Stafford now turning 33 soon, the cash-strapped Lions may decide to move on from Stafford in favor of the $14 million in cap relief that he provides.

i hated the trade from day one , his age , what we gave up for him, i predicted injury , and the awful contract we are saddled with

now they wanted the dink and dunker but alas arent happy with him either

he has a grand total of one win vs a winning team for the 'he's a winner crowd "

again shit you wouldnt accept from KC

KC by the way has a 7-9 record 35 td passes (our entire team has 16) . he has 13 picks ( our entire team has 16) . he has over 4200 yds ( our entire team has 3700) . i dont give a shit about the lazy garbage time stats analysis (which is BS) but if we got that production from our qb this season we have 10 wins

now all that being said you have to play CDC if he is healthy enough to go (he may not be )
First off. Who's this QB peeps are calling a savior? You talkin about Hieney? Whoever it is I haven't seen the word savior used, but I haven't read every thread on the forum either.

I also don't recall anyone being happy with the AS deal and I wasn't happy with his play either. The way AS plays is frustrating as hell, but he is w/o question the winningest QB in the Snyder Era. And sure he only has 1 win against a winning team this year. How many wins do Allen n Haskins combined have against winning teams this year? Your mad cuz for why? Sorry, but Haskins wasn't the answer. It would've been lovely if he were, but he wasn't. Hell, it would've been cool if Allen was the answer, maybe he is. I highly doubt it. Your plan was to continue to play Haskins despite him fuckin up. How you think that would've worked out this year? We'll never know, but I'm guessin instead of talking about playoffs right now. We'd be talking about who we're gonna draft with the 3rd or 4th pick.

Stymietee wanted the Skins to keep Griffin on the bench his rookie year. I'm guessin everybody would've said fuck that including me. How you think that would've worked out? We'll never know, but I'm guessin not a whole lot different than it actually did,

And accept KC. What does that even mean? While we may all root for the same team. Different fans are gonna have different opinions regardless who plays QB or whatever position. There's an opinion about KC by a Skins fan that thinks he was a stat compiler during garbage time. I don't share that opinion. My opinion of KC, at least while he was here, was that in critical times he didn't come through. He'd put up nice numbers and nice games against second tier teams and he had a couple nice games against a few good times, but overall when the rubber hit the road, at a critical point in a game. He came up lacking too many times imo. And he's put up some nice numbers this year. With the 2nd best running RB and arguably best all around RB in the league and a tandem at WR who themselves were top 5, maybe top 3 in the league this year. You think he put up those same numbers for the 2020 Washington Football Team? Im don't.

I said AS shouldn't of played last week. They should have given him the extra week for his calf to get better. Other posters disagreed. Clearly AS n RR disagreed as well and here we are. It is what it is. All I know is this. I fuckin hate the way AS plays, even when he's healthy. But he's accomplished something that no other QB has been able to accomplish here. So I'm in the bag for AS. Even though I don't think he'll be ready/healthy for this upcoming game. I hope he's ready/healthy for next year cuz like I said. I'm all in on the AS bandwagon. That nasty lookin, shitty stat accumulatin, ypa under 7 yards, averagin .5 TD passes a game bandwagon.

  • Washington head coach Ron Rivera said he could rotate Alex Smith and Taylor Heinicke against the Bucs on Sunday.

Smith, returning from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for two weeks, had limited mobility last week against the Eagles. It was clear he hadn't fully recovered from the calf issue. Rivera said the Football Team "definitely" had to consider rotating Smith with Heinicke, who relieved Dwayne Haskins in Week 16 and completed 12-of-19 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers. The potential QB rotation makes Smith unplayable in Wild Card DFS contests.

I agree with this. Skinsdad blasted the QB change to Allen and wanted the high draft pick. Haskins was a disaster and RR knew it so he made the change. He couldnt understand that. RR saw a chance to win the division and he took it. But posters on here blasted RR for that. I dont get it. Isnt about winning. Fans on here wanted the team to lose which is unacceptable. All those fans should be called out. All the fans who still wanted haskins to paly should be called out.

Dean ,Mitz and quite a few others thought CDC as the savior and there are numerous posts for years hear backing it up .

before he broke his leg he was leading our team to the playoffs. He wasn't great but was winning. KC wanted to leave here. Don't start this again. He got his gmoney and a better team at the time. Posting what KC is doing now as far as numbers is crazy since he has great talent at the skilled positions.

I wasn’t here but I imagine they were thinking of him as a healthy temporary savior for temporary goals of winning culture, etc. and then mentoring someone without having to tank or trade up high. I don’t know if that would happen, but if Smith didn’t get hurt and the situation in KC happened here with someone similar to Mahomes (not saying another Mahomes because that’s unlikely), everyone would be happy.

Like I said . Took over as starter for 3 shitty teams and then miraculously they weren't shitty . What timing hes got

It took seven years in SF for him to have a winning season. That isn’t miraculous. That is pathetic.

The Redskins are still shitty. What are you talking about?

what KC did is inconsequential DEAN to the CDC trade itself . the trade was bad , the contract was bad , the injury i predicted happened and i think he has one win over a winning team

yes i blasted the qb change to allen and rightfully so because DHC had to sink or swim . being in the playoffs could hurt us more then help us particularly when it comes to drafting a qb

now i can take the benefits of making the playoffs and be happy about it even though at 7-9 i dont consider us worthy of that honor

SF went from 2 wins to 7 wins in Smiths first full year starting then 13 his second full year starting. KC went from 2 to 11. Wash is 11-5 with Smith starting and 6-26 when he doesn't. So... ya know.

Yes the defender was. It was still a drinker. Anybody can make an occasional good throw, even you. He has never consistently done this.

He was brought here because of one great season. He had never had a season remotely close to it before and obviously never will again.

We were 6-4...hardly a guarantee for anything...we were also under 20 points per game.

Cant have it either way,. Routing for the team to lose for draft position or routing for the team to win and support the Qb change,. RR wants this team to win. Most fans what this team to win. Routing for draft position in October in a winnable division is not being a fan.

He was playing well that season. I think they’d only lost one game before he got injured
He had lost two games in SF prior to injury. He was 6-2.

CK was 5-2-1.

There is nothing in AS’ history to suggest he would have won a playoff game, let alone go to the SB.

You are wrong about SF but its hard to argue with you about KC because of Mahomes. More like bad luck there.

In what way am I wrong about SF?I showed you it took seven years for him to get a winning season. They were 6-2 with AS. They were 5-2-1 with CK. There is nothing in AS‘ history to suggest he would win a playoff game.
