well Blaine Gabbert more recently was viewed in an entire coaching staffs eyes as a better option.... Kaepernick was benched in favor of Gabbert sooo

that was also a few years ago so if Gabbert was a FA (hes not) he should always get a call before Kaepernick

There's not a straight line in this way of thinking! Gabbert was once played in front of Kaep, therefore a few years later they are what? Still the same? C'mon man!!

Yeah I guess while Gabbert remained in the league and Kaep didnt, Kaep got better

Kaep is the first player in professional sports history to become better then they were after they finished playing

Josh Johnson has been coached by Gruden in the past. Two teams I think. Tampa and Cincinnati.

Interesting! Not because, there has been a connection but because in the moment Gruden didn't think that he was worth keeping or at least never gave the guy another shot, when he became a head coach. Quick question...Does desperation cause amnesia?

Again check the logic, we know that Gabbert got worse, what we don't know is, did Kaep? The truth is Kaep is an unknown at the moment, and any suggestion that he's gotten any better or worse is pure speculation. BTW: and that's assuming that Kaep has rust from being inactive. So logically, Unknown trumps putrid.

see that is where you are wrong. Kaep is a known commodity, 3-13 over his last 16 games in fact. Hence why I have no problem giving young guys like Peterman or completely unknown like Nick Mullens a shot because they are >25 years old and may have not played their best ball or had it "click"

There is enough bad tape on Kaep <30 once the read option was figured out.... hes a really bad QB who doesnt provide upside

I just don't understand. A guy a lot of you are proud of because of a stance he took would throw him to the wolves.

So here is a well thought out football plan. Lets sign Kap because he might be good. Now we have less than a week to prepare the current starting QB to have more than 10-20 plays and to get familiar with the team. So we will sign Kap and give him almost nothing because they have to get Sanchez ready. Second series Sanchez gets hurt. Can you tell me how that helps Kap.

We already know that Sanchez is going to have to play with a watered down playbook. He is going to have to work with limited protection options on offense because they are going to have Ty and one new guy playing guard.

By all means, lets sign Kap who knows not ONE play in the playbook and have him come in the game on the third series.

I don't think anyone thinks Josh Johnson is the answer to anything other than he already is familiar with Grudens offense.

Exactly how long ago was that 3-13 season? How do you know that a much more aged Kaep have a more reasoned approach to the game. It's rhetorical, because you nor I or anyone else knows the answer to that question. What we all know for certain is that Gabbert did get chance after chance and with each opportunity he got progressively worse. Spin yhis in any manner that you desire, but we both know that any conversation about Kaep signing anywhere will be met by a hard stance against it because of what he did on the sidelines. Good luck covering up your true agenda.

There's no push to sign Kaep, because this team has made it clear that they won't sign him. The issue now is a reluctance of too many to realize that he did the right thing initially. The socks and all of the other bullshit that followed was merely methods to distract from that initial message. So anytime, there's some mention of all of that other bullshit instead of what he actually knelt for, as reasons not to give this player another shot, is in itself, bullshit!!

Best answer... that was also true of Sanchez and anyone else that they might sign at this point who would have to go into the game should Sanchez go down, right?

it was also discussed as gruden said and they felt a guy knowing the offense was important . i believe that is a fair reason

Before this goes to the off topic thread, do you honestly believe that protesting against police shooting of unarmed people is wrong?

Oh, I agree, that is indeed a fair reason, if the intent is strictly to get someone who is "familiar" with the offense. There's not one player who's available that actually "knows" the offense. That part is bullshit and everyone knows it. All in all though, you are correct, it is a fair reason, if that's all they want.

That said, do you think, not signing the best player available, whomever that might be, is an indicator that they've already decided to tank the season? (It's not like we have any kind of chance anyway)

no , but when and where is , plus the facts dont indicate this is a huge or common issue, police shootings are rare .

its clearly debatable that he is the best available at this time if you factor in everything

I believe that Josh Johnson would have been near the bottom of the list of people I would have signed except for the fact that he has knowledge of the offense.

My post is non- political. It is about football. I think if Kaep signed a 4 game contract in an offense he does not know would be a mistake for him. What if he got in and played poorly because he did not know the offense. It would just add to the naysayers that say he can't play. If he is going to play again he needs a fair chance to succeed.

A question popped into my mind this morning while riding into work today. Where was the defense of a 4,000 yards, 25+ TDs per year guy? Kaep was never that good. :noidea::scratch:
