I seem to recall teams used to do this quite frequently back about 20 years ago or so. Though Wasn't it usually with teams that were geographically closer or within the division?

Seems intriguing that the Patriots would be choosing the skins and eagles as possible practice compadres. I like it, however. More practice against a team, that is a perennial post season contender, has to be a plus.

I think it's a great idea. Sure, there's a chance for some harder hitting, but for both veterans and new blood competing for starter status, nothing beats scripted practice (blitz, red zone, etc) against another team with fresh schemes. I'm totally on board with this.

Of course, with the caveat that we don't try to acquire any WRs from them that don't pan out for us, like we did a couple of times there in the past.. lol.

Before Mike Shanahan was coach didn't we used to have joint practices with the Ravens? I think this is a good idea, last year the Patriots had joint practices with the Eagles leading up to their pre season game against them and they also had a joint practices with Tampa Bay as well before their pre season game against them.

I do remember practices with the Ravens, but I thought I had read somewhere that they did this way earlier, like in the Allen days. Can't find it anywhere, so I guess not.

I remember finally... It was Gibbs. We used to scrimmage against the Steelers up in Carlyle. When Gibbs came back, we did it with the Ravens. I also think it was done against the Colts back when they were in Baltimore.
