Not sure about the rest of Canada but that's pretty typical here in the Maritimes. I'd say about 75% of kids that played hockey in the winter played baseball in the summer and vice-versa. And the majority of the time if you were you any good at one, you'd be good at the other.

out here it seemed to be more hockey in winter / lacrosse (box) in the summer.
