I wonder if Mark is sitting around posting in his Bozworth jersey? JK Mark, but is a funny thought.

Haha no, only Jersey's I own are the numbers worn by Adrian Peterson and Quiten Griffin. They are shelved and don't get out often.
I do however have an old school pennet signed by every all American on the 85 national team, Bozworth included.![]()
You already lose right there. This isn't the Pro's.
You want the university to sell Jerseys with no numbers? Sure go for it. Plenty of Polo's and T-shirts out there to wear. Where is the cut for the players on those? They helped the team win titles which sells merchandise. What about team photos? Everyone should get a cut, by your logic.
Never said that either.
You haven't used a shred of logic in this entire convo.
Once again......they're free to sell numbers with no meaning. Florida used to ONLY sell #1, #99, and the year numbers they won titles.
No players had those numbers.
There hasn't been a single time I've talked about being "fair".
I've said this from the beginning, and you keep trying to CHANGE the subject....
If they sell the number of a player they KNOW is popular, they know is going to move product - and your Sooners do the EXACT same thing - that's profiting off the SPECIFIC, INDIVIDUAL athlete.
Not the team. Not the program. The SPECIFIC athlete.
Try to stay on subject here. My argument has not changed. You still can't debate this point,
BECAUSE YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT
I've never tried to debate your point. I've called for 1. Removal of scholarships if they pay players. 2. Even compensation if they pay players, across the board.
You refuse to agree because you only want to pay a select few. Everyone represents the brand. If Vince Young gets caught with cocaine and hookers should he be disciplined? By your logic no because he is better than the rest so lets give him special treatment and yes this does happen with starters, they get prefered treatment in cases of discipline, sometimes. Bob Stoops treats everyone equal, Bomar is a fine example.
So are you only going to pay the football, basketball, and baseball players? How about soccer, golf, swimming, track and field, and other athletic teams? Do those athletes get paid? Does everyone get paid equally?
Not even that. Star wants to pay only the QBs or "jersey sellers" as he calls it.
Then the Universities should just quit releasing their names. These "jersey sellers" get plenty of free publicity for their Professional resumes. All the major networks and ESPN are constantly calling their name, pumping their stats, and promoting/selling them to potential NFL buyers. I'd say they are compensated, well, for their on-field success in college. If they don't want to "exploited" they could always play intramural sports.
You talk about reality while saying lets pay only QBs, RBs and the occasional great defensive player. It's rubbish and not reality. Winning sells merchandise. Takes a team to win. Yes, some are more glorified than others but why should they not get equal pay?
Here is a good example of what you want....
Son, at Texas they only pay QBs. Come to A&M cause we pay Linbackers too.
I want your son to play at Alabama. We sells lots of merchandise and can help your boy net an extra (inset amount here). You really think that losing school at Oregon can pay that?
That's what you are advocating.
No, I'm not.
I'm advocating that IF you are going to sell SPECIFIC jerseys of popular players, then said player should get part of the proceeds. That's not dependent on position.
Now IF the NCAA doesn't want to do that, the solution is simple........DON'T SELL SPECIFIC PLAYER JERSEYS.
But you are.
Kid, come to A&M. We will make a jersey for you and you can get paid.
Thats what you want. Maybe not directly but a consequence of what you want.
So be it. That's what the NCAA wants.
And don't fool yourself. That's never going to be a pitch that will work, since every school will have the same option. Nothing will really change. Kids will choose the big schools like they do now.
Yes, but if Texas ever gets a competent coaching staff, it would be a major advantage because they have the market and revenue to produce and sell multiple jerseys, HUGE recruiting advantage. They could rival USC with getting coast to coast players.
How would the NCAA avoid this?
If you get your way and the NCAA must pay players that the university profits off of by selling their jersey, how will you restrict who's jersey you can sell?
Will their be a limit to yards passing? Perhaps a TD limit? Maybe position only and so you again begin to single out other people. What if you get that special one of a kind player every decade or so that plays safety, this time. Next time its Tight End. Does he get to lobby that safeties or Tight Ends get jersey's too, you know so they comply with the NCAA rule of only certian positions can have their jersey sold.
Maybe Texas says, we sell every jersey of every player and you get %. How could other schools compete?
Man I could go all day with what you want to see.

You still aren't getting it.
Not every jersey is going to sell. We're not talking a lot of money here. We're talking MAYBE 2 grand, with the exception of the VYs and Tebows of the world, that rake in more.
We're not talking a lot of money. We're talking 6% of every jersey sold. For some players, that's 0. For some, thats 100.
You act like schools are going to be doling out millions in cash - that's not reality.
Reality is only 2, 3 jerseys are going to sell. You put that money in a trust, and make it dependent on graduation. That way the school still gets to make interest off the money.
This really isn't that hard, or that revolutionary an idea. You guys are all jumping off the deep end for nothing. CHALLENGE your way of thinking every once in awhile, look at all the angles here.
Can this be exploited? Yes. Are kids already being exploited? Yes.
You can promise kids the moon.......but that doesn't really mean anything. And after a few years, kids won't buy into it anyway.
You can only recruit 20 some odd kids a year anyway, so I really don't see what the issue is.
You're probably referring to 1080TheFan. I've tried to listen to it too when I'm in Portland and it's usually a constant rant from a bunch of socialists who see everyone as downtrodden and abused. I saw one of their on-air personalities (Big Suke) one time at a Buffalo Wild Wings and told him he sounds like a commie always complaining how athletes are exploited. Yea, he is as stupid in person as he sounds on the radio.
And you are advocating to stop exploiting the players
Dude, hmm. Come on. Stop trying to pretend like this shit aint going to happen. Hell OU could even try it. Come here, we make you a jersey so you can get paid.... You are out of your mind. I can tell by advocating ways to make interest.![]()
