Whenever you not only get beat by Texas, but you get slaughtered by the Texas B team in a bowl game, you know you need to reevaluate the state of your program.

The Big 10 and the SEC fucked up back then.
The Big 10 should have made a push to get Missouri and Louisville. Missouri fits in well with the regional teams already there. Nope, they decided on Maryland and Rutgers. Stupid ass choice.

I dislike how conferences don't use location as a big factor anymore (West Virginia in the Big 12).

Why the hell would we want Mizzou?

Rutgers and Maryland were dumb, but the intention was a footprint into the east coast. Mizzou adds nothing of value. Louisville would have been interesting.

Missouri is in the region and usually has an OK football team and an OK basketball team, unlike Rutgers. Just South of Iowa, just East of Nebraska, just West of Illinois. It fits the Big 10 region well. It's also better than Rutgers in nearly every way for the Big 10.

The school is in a decline. I’m glad they aren’t in the big and I wouldn’t trade them for Rutgers. I’ll take NJ over MO if both are going to be shitters.

Except for the fact that Rutgers makes every team in the Big10 around an extra million a month from the current TV contract while Missouri would bring less than a quarter of that. That’s not including what the next TV deal is going to bring in.

I guess I was thinking of competition. Rutgers waters the league down quite a bit.

Conference alignment is much more about dollars than competitive sports teams tbh.

BLM fucked em good. Imagine having to close over 30 grad programs because attendance has tanked so hard. I think they had to shut 6 to 9 dorms too.

Maybe the Sun Belt will take them.

Mizzou will be fine. We're still good to fight.

I'm not usually one to side with northerners over southerners but New Jersey does have that place that makes that taco pizza. Tony Baloney's.

So, yeah.

New Jersey >>>> Missouri.

I agree, the state of Missouri is awful.

Maybe it's coming back.

:noidea:

Applications jump at University of Missouri campuses

I agree with the overall point, though I know at least three of the dorm closings were planned. The stench of what happened in 2015 is something the school is distancing itself from and if applications really are back up I'd say the school will be fine in the long run.
