Safety is right there and you could argue it is a bigger need. The dline had too many injuries to really be evaluated.

Doesn't matter who u have in the secondary if you not getting any pressure up front...

No shit Sherlock. But like I said, with all the injuries the DL has has we don't know what we have. We do know both safeties (church included) have been less than stellar. But the way I'm already on record we need to address the DL, it's just not cut and dried more important than S. Go back to cafishing. Your better at it.

Who is to evaluate besides Crawford?? Either way the Dline needs a MAJOR upgrade.... Church will be a starter next year book it Mano...& I am still trying to figure out what you are better at :noidea:

Sure ain't trolling. You got that down to a science. I never said Church won't be the starter just said he's less then stellar. Church can hit but he can't cover worth a damn. His Roy Williams light.

He can't cover for having to play in the box to help out the inept front 7..... Church is a football player this team could use a lot more of him..

Church is ok and Wilcox has game even being green, BUT...safety is still a big time need.

think DT in round one and a safety in round two

I am thinking pass rusher before safety, Dware is surely becoming a 3rd down specialist @ this point in his career

It should be the best DT, DE, or S available and repeat in the following rounds until the needs are met.

D-line is our biggest need. How many more seasons must you see the lack of depth? We have no pass rush. We do need safety but a good d-line can mask secondary deficiencies.

I won't disagree with the dl being the bigger need but it is not so much a bigger need that it's not close as has been said earlier. If a top safety is there and a DT or DE will be a reach I say we go with the S. Now if there are equally graded players at S, DT, and DE by all means it should be a lineman.

they play different positions but yes...Wilcox intrigues me while Church's high side seems serviceable.

I don't think you draft two dline guys with your first two picks....maybe by your frst 3 picks but not the first two

If you line up a ball- hawk Safety next to Church he is more than serviceable, I see Wilcox as more of a box safety than a compliment to Church.....For the record I like them both , but don't consider either a FS. So NOT sure they play different positions.

I'm not certain that LB isn't also a need. Lee is great when healthy, but when injured our lb core seems to weak. Carter is good when Lee is out there with him, but seems to get lost without Lee.

I wouldn't take a LB in the first two rounds, but by the third round I would be thinking about it, especially if one that was supposed to go round 1 or 2 slips that far.

Let's face it, there are major needs all over the defense, if for no other reason than shoring up injured players later in the season. What's the old saying? You're only as good as your worst player. We've proven that repeatedly this year.

Wilcox is raw as raw can be but he's a free to me. I think it's his potential ball skills once he gets his feet on the ground this offseason that got him drafted where he was drafted. Doesn't matter if Ed Reed in his prime played with Church, anyone back there can be schemed in coverage through alignments and shifts/motion....why do you think they took #20 off the field entirely? Bottom line, Church had a good season by his standards and needs to continue to grow as a player. The best way for that is through strong completion. I really wouldn't mind all but two picks going the defensive side. Much depends on what we might be able to do with filler depth/role players in free agency. I agree with eiknarflin, LB should not be ignored. Today I'd look DT in the first and there appears to be value there at 20 something. I think safety in round two followed by another DT in round 3, LB/DE/ and another Dback would be nice. That's leaves one pick IF we have 7 this year

I would be all for Church putting on some weight & moving to LB. The vice versa of Woody....
