I honestly think there should be a committee who can take a player's name out of consideration. If a player screws up during the year, the committee can vote to decide whether or not that player is now ineligible for votes for that season.

Whether it should be or not, I can't imagine anyone voting for the idiot, Winston, this year. Mariotta has a clearer path than Winston at this point.

fify.

But to answer the question. It should and with the NFL things going on it will be heavily weighed. Now the NCAA cannot do shit about the Heisman since they are two individual entities.

Correct, but the Heisman voters should take character into consideration, kind of like an unwritten rule.

Character should be a factor when judging anyone for anything.

Seems simple to me.

Do any of us really want to be embarrassed by a retarded fucker representing our school?? If I were a FSU alumnus, and I thank my Holy Christ I am NOT, I'd be outraged. Most of the players interviewed make me cringe a little...but Winston takes the retarded cake. I hope the semenholes enjoy their Natty and Heisman because there simply must be ramifications for such a gross figurehead.

To say that this dumb fucker can pass even one college-level course at FSU is ridiculous. Hundreds of thousands of students have attended this school and probably worked hard to attain a degree. To have this idiot running wild is an insult to every one of them.

Watching UF win 3 NCs was great, but nothing is worth insulted the school academically. Hell, I'd trade all 3 to have my school and major in the top 5 instead of the top 20 in the nation. It's too bad FSU doesn't mind continuing to emit the stink of Florida's "clown college."

So, what's my point:
The Heisman shouldn't HAVE to include character criterion because a school should have some Goddamned self-respect.

True. Too bad most schools only care about winning. I still can't believe he won. He was under investigation for r*pe. WTF?

Have no problem with that. Listened to Eddie George yesterday and he said as much.

The Heisman used to mean something. They should make a concerted effort to return the award to it's former glory, respect.

Maybe character shouldn't be an issue, but the ability to SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH should be.

Jameis Winston will not be a repeat winner this year because of his conduct.

I haven't read all the posts because, well, I'm lazy. BUT, I think character should be considered AFTER winning the award. I mean, you are expected to represent the Heisman with class at all times. If you win it then 5 years later you are arrested dry fucking a statue of the virgin mother, I think you will have failed in that endeavor. I think it can, or rather, SHOULD be withdrawn.

Everyone has done or said some stupid shit in their lifetime. If you perform your job well then you should be recognized as such.

Maybe, but the majority of us that have done stupid shit are nobodies, the Heisman winner is out there with a spotlight on him, some young boys even look up to them as role models.

Pretty sure that if most people were accused - in a small period of time - of all of the above :

Reckless weapon use
Theft
Theft again
Lying
r*pe
Public display of obscenities

They would not even be close to keeping their jobs. They certainly would not get a day or two off and win awards.
