1) Cam Newton - Kicked off Florida for theft; The $180k fiasco.
2) Johnnyhollywood - offseason arrest; autograph fiasco and lies about it; sole owner of the douchebag of the decade award.
3) Jameis - Alleged of r*pe; BB gun incident; Crab legs; F her right in the pussy; By all accounts illiterate.

These are the recent faces of the NCAA. While the NFL is going to greater lengths to publicly try to protect its brand - wtf is the NCAA doing?

I know it's not - but SHOULD character be stated as a criterion for the award?

fify.

But to answer the question. It should and with the NFL things going on it will be heavily weighed. Now the NCAA cannot do shit about the Heisman since they are two individual entities.

Yes, I mentioned that in one of the other threads.

No freshman should ever win the Heisman ever. Character should be brought into the discussion, so I think only a junior or senior should win the Heisman. Give players two years to get their stupidness out of them.

All the Heisman voters have done is validate the stupidity by voting them the best player and tarnishing the award in my opinion.

Another award should be created, Most Exciting Player without a Brain, call it the Great Athlete but Stupid Award.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy Award (usually known colloquially as the Heisman Trophy or the Heisman), is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.

It is the oldest of several overall awards in college football, including the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and the AP Player of the Year. The Heisman and the AP Player of the Year honor the most outstanding player, while the Maxwell and Walter Camp awards recognize the best player, and the Archie Griffin Award recognizes the most valuable player.

Your question is up for interpretation. But Regie Bush proved it could be vacated.

This may be a bit apples and oranges, but if the HOF voters use off field behavior in their decisions why not the Heisman committee?

That says it all right there. "Excellence with integrity". Someone who steals or rapes has no integrity and should be considered for the award.

The "integrity clause" has been brought out and discussed for several years (in a row it seems) by the media. It means nothing apparently. I remember there being a big deal about it what with Johnny Finger's candidacies with his off-season issues. Again, apparently it's all just hot air anymore. Win + look flashy doing it = character shmaracter.

Yes it should, when you win the Heisman you're in that fraternity for life, representing the trophy and your school.

Problem with AJ was he was NOT even the best player on his team. Let alone in the country.

Mariota had a definite argument before his injury last year.

He was just using them as examples of guys who do it the right way. I like FSU, a lot, but Winston is a d-bag.

I know what he was using them for. Just pointing out the flaw in the one.

I am not so sure. No, wasn't the most talented on team. But he put up great numbers, captained an elite team, was a multiple NC.

Something to be said for the guy driving the ship.
