He's looked like a top 3 OG at times during his career. He's also been made to look like Joe Lunchmeat at times during his career. Whatever Scherff may be. Neither he, Trent, or Tomsula were ever able to establish the Skins OL into a cohesive, week in, week out, season to season productive unit. They had breakdowns at the most inopportune times particularly in short yardage situations. Sometimes it was a RB's fault. Too many times though it was the OL's fault. Perhaps it was coaching as well. It would've been interesting to see what Trent and Scherff could've become playing next to one another. Maybe another Jones and Hucthinson dominant tandem, maybe not. With a top 3 LT and top 3 OG under the teachings of a supposed OL guru. The Skins OL never became the unit I thought they should've been.
Maybe that's it and I'm incorrectly remembering stories of Moses being better at RT than BS. Or that Scherff was drafted with the intent of making him a RT. For whatever reason though he just wasn't working out at RT.
Scherff was drafted as an OL. According to Dean, he failed at RT. Dean is loud so people remember it.
