Great save % in the first period. There is still a long way to go for a great comeback win for a team full of heart and character, only out-hit by CGY 15-3 in that period.
the first two goals and the last one are stopped by jones. If Jones is in net, its 1-1.
That was one of the worst goaltending periods I have ever seen. Even the nice tic-tac-toe goal, stalock still looked ridiculous and actually monahan's shot was a weak trickler on the ice. Any kind of lateral push or even just a split and that's stopped. Stalock seriously looked like a beer league goalie that period.
he is done. Aaron Dell is once again amongst the best in the AHL, as he is 6th is Save % among players with at least 20 GP. He just stopped 52 of 54 to get sommer his record breaking win. I cannot imagine the sharks can worse than stalock right now, so anyone, even a shooter tutor is better.
Points are at too much of a premium to waste on playing stalock. If Jones isnt going to start every game, then they have to either acquire a serviceable back up or give Dell the call.
In fact, as of right now, among the 60 goalies league wide with at least 12 GP, Stalock is the league's #1 worst goalie by save %, a shade above .880. backup or not, being the league's worst goalie is not good.
I also always laugh about how they are trying not to pin it on stalock even though 3 of the 4 are definitely on him. You cant give up nothing all game long. your goalie has to stop the stoppable ones.
Stalock cost the team one point, but you gotta tip your hat to the skaters to come back and get at least one. The only big disappointment for me was the 5 on 3 with 3 mins left. Way too deliberate and poorly executed.
When you outshoot the other team 41-22 including 27-11 in the final two periods, you gotta live the effort. If Jones is in net, this is 2 points.
Stalock was putrid. but as fot that 5 on 3, come on rules, Hiller saved their ass... The best thing to happen to Calgary was Ramo going down... Sharks owned that game, Stalock gave it away and Hiller made sure they didnt lose it...
That was however one of the most entertaining games Ive watched all year... That said - Why wasnt he pulled in the 1st period, and why hasnt Groes given any chance to start?? As much as I like Stalock and have been his huge supporter on the boards, the dude has to go, and go NOW...
Anyone notice his 1 save in the shootout is cause he tripped while moving lateral? haha
Yeah, but where are the fans? From my TV it appeared a lot of lower level seats empty and to be honest this is a more entertaining team than I thought it would be at the beginning of the year. Playoff bound probably.
Groesnick has been terrible this year and has, for the 2nd season in a row, been out played by Dell. Stalock has been bad but I don't think either Groesnick or Dell would be an improvement. They need to make a move for a competent back up. With as bad as the goalie market is it wouldn't cost much to acquire one. The only concern would be cap implications.
Greiss is with the Islanders I think. Toronto Assistant GM Dubas has been to every Sharks game since the All-Star break so there is a lot of speculation the Sharks are interested in Reimer.
Id be fine with that - if we arent giving up anything besides like a 5th rounder pick... Any assets that we have that have any value towards a trade should be packaged for Dman over a backup goalie
I think they just need the dmen and they will be fine... Their bottom scoring is actually pretty good. Its just not as high powered as we had hoped for after we saw great rookies years from guys like Nieto... But most bottom guys on top teams arent going to be putting up 20 goals
