Sharks tell Nabokov he won’t be coming back next season as talks continue with Marleau, others | Working the Corners

Hopefully it's a 6 year $33million contract or something in that ballpark. Broken down like this: $8, $7, $6, $5, $4, $3 or $8, $8, $5, $4, $4, $4.

Although Marleau could almost assuredly to better on the open market than that so who knows.

Hopefully with Nabokov out of the picture DW can focus on Marleau. If both Patty and Nabby leave I will be extremely sad.

I hope your right Dup. Blake has retired as well which frees up some more cap space, but the Sharks playoffs proved that they needed a much more mobile defense. The Hawks ate the Sharks lumbering defense (i.e. - Murray, Huskins and Blake) alive. Unfortunately, they still aren't in a very enviable position in regards to the cap.

No iron clad proof of this, but it could be true.

He did sell a home in the San Jose area only to buy a new one in a surrounding area under his wife's name though. I'd say he'll either be a King or a Shark next season though.....a buddy of mine has talked with him and the wife before (non-hockey related) and apparently Mrs. Marleau wears pants.....

I'm glad that Nabby isn't coming back. Not that I don't like him, but he just never elevated his game post lockout to a status needed to win in the playoffs and his contract money will be better spent elsewhere. Just please DWil do NOT sign Turdo. Also, I've felt all along that Marleau was going to stay in San Jose and I think this is a sign that he will sign, hopefully before July 1.

This is good to hear. I had a weird feeling that Marleau was going to leave but I think that the Sharks organization must be pretty confident that they can sign him if they announce that they will not resign Nabby.

I understand they need the cap room but I am not sure there are better options out there.

Marleau is coming to LA. He has heard he is the back-up plan if the Kings don't get Kovy, and being thought of as the guy they settled for, sets his heart all a flutter. Besides I saw this guy at HF who's wife's friend's realtor heard that Patty was looking at houses in LA and his wife wants to be an actress.
