Of course, and that's a very valid point.

I just think that them singing is inevitable. These guys are scared shitless. Again, these aren't hardened criminals that know how to keep their mouths shut. These white-collar guys are going to save themselves in the face of FBI interrogations. They've never been questioned by police, let alone the feds.

I'm also of the mindset that there is far more to uncover than what we all know right now. And if the feds are worth their weight in salt concerning a situation that 'everyone on the inside knows is happening' then this is about to grow by leaps and bounds. Not only do I not believe that these basketball coaches and shoe salesmen existed in an elaborate culture that everyone knows about, except the head coaches, and I believe that there are more basketball programs to be named, but I have to doubt that Adidas cornered the market from Nike, on paying players through coaches. So, it'll be interesting to see what dirt is on Nike's hands, and what programs were on the take from them. Finally, at this point, how is it not also happening in football, where everything is magnified by 10, and similar opportunities through the relationships between shoe companies and athletes?

So, I wonder how far this all goes. What percentage of the P5 schools are a part of this, in either sport? What if 25% of P5 schools are fucked up in this, just in basketball? Just in the Pac we know of 1/6th. I'm not accusing anyone, but Oregon is Nike's love child, and Hurley's got an ex Adidas exec as one of his assistants/recruiters. Jay Williams said that his management group offered Kevin Love a 1/4 mil back in '09. What about UCLA? That's almost half the conference that is already guilty or sticks out like a sore thumb.

Both major schools in the state of Alabama are under investigation by the FBI--almost the entire basketball fan base of the state. What happens if an athletic program is doing this in both football and basketball? What happens if any of these guys from the shoe companies use NBA players to get recruits into Adidas or Nike? And at what point does the conversation turn to the NCAA in general?

Again, if this has been going on for decades and everyone on the inside knows, then how much has it expanded under its own impunity over those decades? I think this might end up like the steroid era in baseball. So many people did it that not everyone needed to be called out for enough names to drop to know it's happening on such a massive scale. This will go as far as the FBI wants it to go.

Yeah, if the assistants that have been charged don't starting singing, they're pretty dumb.

Agreed. Just the information that is already publicly available looks like jail time for a lot of those guys.

Jay Bilas has been awfully quiet on twitter lately. He's basically only posts Jeezy lyrics and his constant nonsense that athletes should be paid. Well Jay, looks like all of them were, so not much else to tweet about, huh?

I like Jay, but he definitely suffers from "smartest guy in the room" disease.

I think he does a fine job as an analyst. I follow him on twitter and he just comes across as a jackass 75% of the time. A guy as connected as he is has to know what is going on in the game and up the ranks too, which make all his tweets about paying players even more nonsensical.

And coaches are going to squeal. I have no doubt they'll talk. If you're a guy just doing your job, never concerned with jail, and suddenly the prospect of prison for multiple years literally comes knocking at your door, you're talking. These guys have a lot to lose, and while I know they knew it was against the rules, I'm convinced many had no idea how illegal the shit they were doing was.

Good on you Barrett. Walking away as if you're taking the high road. Im sure you had no knowledge of how it all worked. Its okay when it's behind the scenes.

Why would he stay committed to a school when he ain't getting paid to go there anymore :noidea:

One of the Rivals.com recruiting reporters is calling bullshit on the "Arizona/Miami bidding war for Nassir Little" story.

Can't say I would mind if Illinois went into the tank because they had to get rid of Underwood because of this.

I heard on the radio today it started with Travis Ford.

Yeah, the time period begins with Travis Ford, but it extends into Underwood's short tenure. Also, the assistant that was charged was brought to Oklahoma State by Underwood.
