The Sens are like the Sabres now. They don't know what they're doing and have lost their identity.

Though I still believe the Sabres will win the division...with the Leafs playing 'weaker' competition in the division...do they have a shot at a playoff berth? I'm being serious...I mean, I suppose there's still the B's, honestly I haven't gotten to see any of their games this season yet.

The Sens are like the Sabres now. They don't know what they're doing and have lost their identity.

At the end of last season the Sens won a lot of games by competing. Right now they just aren't competing hard enough and that kind of thing has a way of showing itself in terms of bounces and getting the calls.

If the Sens are going to get going then they're going to have to start battling in the trenches. It's the way they got out of it last year and they'll have to do it again.

:D

(see sig:))

And now back to your regularly scheduled GNT.

There was a girl I worked with who was obsessed with Anberlin...that was over four years ago.

Um...back to the game. Nice to see contributions throughout the lineup for the Pens. And thus far it doesn't look like the D is missing Gonchar offensively.

What the heck! They call a high stick on Beej on a follow through! THAT'S NOT A PENALTY! I hope Winchester's okay....but that's NOT a penalty.

The worst thing is that the Senator commentator's didn't even know the rules. They kept saying that "the refs are pretty lenient on follow-throughs" and "usually that is let go".

No, you idiots, it's NOT a penalty:

60.1 High-sticking - A “high stick” is one which is carried above the height of the opponent’s shoulders. Players and goalkeepers must be in control and responsible for their stick. However, a player is permitted accidental contact on an opponent if the act is committed as a normal windup or follow through of a shooting motion. A wild swing at a bouncing puck would not be considered a normal windup or follow through and any contact to an opponent above the height of the shoulders shall be penalized accordingly.

Woah...that's pretty bad. I mean, obviously that particular high stick was a nasty injury, especially since it was a goalie stick, but that doesn't change the legality...ugh. I hope the PK is up to par, I don't wanna see any momentum shifts here. You'd think I'd be comfortable with a 4 goal lead :{) <---Look! It's Pascal Dupweeee!

And Gologoski has been lights out for the Pens so far....working out good for the Pens so far....

From an offensive perspective, our D has been great. 21 points as a unit, Gogo with 1 point in every game, Martin with 8 points (i believe), and Tanger is stepping up more. Overall the D is much more active lately at stepping up in the O zone. I just can't wait to get our anchors back in Z and Free Candy...it makes the other guys stepping up much more comfortable.

I remember when Hossa nearly took Berard's eye out. He got a double minor for it and it was a follow through. It was nasty but a follow through none the less.

Point being that I've seen it called before.

Well, it's not in the rules, unless Hossa had an "abnormal" follow-through. And it wasn't called here, they got the wrong guy, they gave the penalty to Hutchinson.

Doesn't change the fact that the commentators didn't know the rule.

They gave it to Johnson. Hutchinson just served it.

Beej playing out of his mind. GREAT poke check on a short handed break away by Mr. Underwood and then Consol promptly plays "Black Dog" by Zep for him :)

The Senators shot themselves in the foot again. They were about to have a powerplay, and then Carkner took two penalties immediately afterward, both of which were unnecessary and unadvised.

Beej is bailing out a poor effort by the 4th line to exit the D-zone.
