Will the Dallas Cowboys secondary be better this season?
Will the Dallas Cowboys secondary be better this season?

Although it’s tough to assess a unit without any actual game experience, the young and revamped Cowboys secondary looks like it could be an improved unit in 2018.

OK, I questioned allowing so many DBs to walk, but sounds like the team made the right decision. At least in practice.

I'm pretty darn sure the defense will be much better this season barring health issues.
Three reasons: the young secondary, the better than expected rushmen & the impact of Jaylon Smith

Addition by subtraction plus having a solid looking draft class.

I am happy with the potential better secondary in the long run. We kept expecting better results with the same secondary for far too long. We needed changes.

Broaddus said over and over before the draft that there were better alternatives in the draft when he was asked about all of the secondary leaving. Fans would come back and say- sure but we only have one first round pick. He would then say better players could be had late. He thought the class was that deep in DBs. Sure that's one mans opinion. So far though, they aren't making him look stupid. I had my doubts as well. I guess we won't know for sure for awhile, but I'm definitely not complaining

I don't think they will be better right away. The future certainly looks better. Marinelli seemed to change his scheme late last season. I liked what he did. I want to see more nickel going forward.

The CB you got from Philly is just awful. But Kurt Coleman was just as bad in Philly and went to Carolina and promptly led the NFL in interceptions.

Sometimes it's all about scheme fit. Don't know much about Carrol, but maybe the coaching staff sees him as a better fit for a zone scheme. Philly plays man to man, mostly, right?

I've been saying since draft weekend how much I love the athleticism this new secondary has. I can't wait to see all this speed flying around. Hopefully we have the right mix of guys to start forcing some turnovers.

My preidiction is this year will be much like last year. Except when there are blown coverages there will be fewer "WTF is he doing out there" and more "kids gonna have to learn not to do that again". I'm ok with it as long as it is lack of experience and these guys are learning. When they are 4+ season vets and making the mistake they need to be allowed to walk.

A season away from turnovers I believe. We have the speed and athleticism it looks like in the secondary, but will need pressure up front to force the bad throws.

I'm not sure what to expect. I'll be happy if the younger guys contribute and show potential. There will be growing pains, but there hopefully will be a few more "wow" plays too. I'm hoping for better play while the ball is in the air and a few more picks and batted balls. If the pass rush is better I think they will be OK. I hope we go deep at CB and White wins a spot on the 53 also. I liked a lot of what I read about him after the draft and since then. Seems he gets lost in the shuffle a little.

Anyone heard anything or read anything about Xavier Woods? I haven't seen much on him

Type his name in the search block. I'd suggest adding Dallas Cowboys, since there is an Olympic athlete with the same name.

It actually a WWE wrestler. Hopefully he plays tonight.

he made two good plays on the ball Tuesday.
Coming along just fine.[/QUOTE

Awuzie and Jones are getting a lot of attention back there. I had not heard much on Woods or Kavon Frasier

large learning curve ahead....I remain extremely happy we reshuffled the dbackfield. I know what Church, Mo and Carr were and I'm still thinking we upgraded big time. Gotta give it some time.
