WTF is up with these refs? Tarasenko went down in the O zone while the Preds had possession and were putting on a puck distribution clinic, and they blew the play dead. Then 5 seconds later, a Pred player got tripped, still had possession and they blew it dead on the penalty.

One of the trainers immediately picked up his left leg. As they wheeled him off, the trainer was still holding it in an elevated position. Good since it meant they were not worried about neck/back, but I have never seen that before. Awful, hope he comes through OK.

Oh, and another thing; why did they blow PK Subban's Empty Netter dead? He shot it in from the Neutral zone, and Johansen was offside. BUT Johansen "tagged up" before the puck crossed the goal line and never touched it on it's way.

By delayed offside rule, that was an onside play, no? If the puck hadn't gone in the net and Johansen touched up and went and got it, the play is onside.

Feels like it shoulda counted.

You can't get a shot on goal when the puck enters the zone offside whether the goalie is in the net or not. You're correct that if it had missed the net Johansen could have retrieved the puck. You can't get a shot on goal or it gets blown dead.

I guess I see that. But it feels like I've seen offside dump ins on goal that don't get blown down. Plus the play was tagged up before the puck was below the top of the circle. Not technically a SOG yet

Anyway, no big deal. Just a strange situation.
