Of course no one knew they would both be so bad. still pisses me off though. This ranks right up there with the Dempster trade now.

That was a bad trade from the start.

Anyone remind me what PTBNL is all about? That's someone who isn't in the majors and now won't be until he is sent to us, right? So why can't they name him now? Is it rules against trading a minor leaguer?

Nothing about not being able to trade anyone at any level.

But normally, the PTBNL is a deal whereas, if he does A you get this, or if he doesn't you get this. Like a solid AAA player vs a middle of the road AA player.

PTBNL for Lucroy? We gave up Brinson for Lucroy. Wow Daniels. That Texeira trade feels like a 100 years ago.

:noidea:

Anyway, earlier today you were mentioning how we HAVE to trade Darvish or else we'll only get a compensatory pick. So this is TOTALLY unacceptable to you, right?

However, you also state the Dodgers are going to screw us and we'll only get back peanuts for him. Your quotes, not mine.

So you rather have peanuts and be the laughing stock of baseball than have a compensatory pick?

And for the record, trades are evaluated by us hindsighters/penny-ante GMs individually. The real GM's have a much bigger picture in mind and don't react this way IMO.

But I was SHOCKED to open up ESPN today and see a picture of an Astro's player, and the HL of "Astros need a starter" and to the right are their top stories, and of the 8, Beltre's 3,000th didn't make the list.

ESPN has a definitive bias against the Rangers, and has for years.

Hitzges was speculating that the PTBNL for Lucroy has already been determined, but can't be announced.

Some of ya may know this, but according to Norm, "if the trade includes a player/players which were just drafted then it can't be announced until after the WS."

Minor league SS/3rd baseman drafted in the 2nd round (48th pick) - Ryan Vilade, and/or the sandwich pick Tommy Doyle (pitcher) from U of VA (70th pick).

If we got 2 guys drafted this high for Lucroy then job well done.

Looking for it again to verify and post (saw it on twitter yesterday) but apparently there are some very highly touted OF options that Colorado could be sending back as well. Don't know where they are in their system though

Ballpark was pretty barren except for the left field line, for the most part. Damn shame, but damn if it wasn't hot!

His value will never be higher. Done an amazingly good job, this season in-particular.

I love Claudio and what he has done but as we have all seen with relievers it can go south in a hurry and can often times be very different from one year to the next. Rangers need to move what they can to be a good ball club again.
