Well it looks like you can scratch the OLB position off as a possible selection in the 1st Round for the Bengals as C.J. Mosley and Anthony Barr, two of the top prospects at their position, have declared they're returning for their Senior Seasons in College. I'm still sticking with WR, Safety and another CB for the Bengals in the 1st Round.

I don't know what's out there, but what about offensive tackle? If Smith's agent plays hardball, they'll have to franchise him or lose him.... In the past, the Bengals have lost the guy the year after the tag. We might also have to start considering an eventual replacement for Whit - I like the guy's ability and leadership, but think he hasn't been as good this year. Would love to see us add a good left tackle prospect with the idea of possibly moving Whit to right tackle down the line.

I don't think it'll be a LBer if we resign Howard but I hope we draft Ogletree.

August, I don't get the WR option at all. Did you not see Jones and Sanu this year. Their potential shouldn't be stunted by drafting one in the first round. We have too many other needs.

I honestly like Sanu and was happy when he fell to the Bengals in the 3rd Round but I believe he's more of a slot receiver due to his lack of speed. I also like Marvin Jones but I believe he's more of a speedy 3rd receiver. Neither are the type of player who's going to force defenses to account for them. And if you want an explanation as to why I want another WR you need to look no further than Atlanta. The Falcons had a solid offense with Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and Michael Turner. It wasn't until they went out and drafted Julio Jones that it became an elite unit. Justin Hunter, Terrance Williams and Robert Woods are the type of prospects that can be partnered with A.J. Green and Jermaine Gresham to push the Bengals offense into the elite range.

I think Marvin Jones can be the #2 and I'd like to be sure before I draft another guy. We have several other places more important than WR.

I am not unhappy with:

Green
Sanu
Jones
Hawkins
Whalen

With our play calling, I would almost rather have a bunch of slot receivers running wild.

Good hands, fast dudes is all we need. We don't need many monsters like AJ who needs to sprint down the sideline and have a vertical of 40+ inches to nab everything.

Let AJ grab the double coverage, and hit Sanu, Jones and Hawkins underneath. WR screens, quick crossing patterns, and let Green and Gresham do all the heavy lifting in the red zone on the jump balls.

It isn't like Sanu is not a big dude either. Our offense was purring when he was playing, then he got hurt, offense went down the tubes a bit, but with him back, and Jones and Hawkins underneath, I love it.

Worry more about finding a RB like Doug Martin in the draft, getting good young talent at T and DE and locking up our good young talent.

WR was/is a concern, but by next year, I am not so worried about it with a healthy Sanu.

We have hit one pass over 20 yards over the past 3 or 4 weeks. One pass. And that was the play that set up the field goal.

We can't pretend that our receivers/quarterback are fine. Can they all improve? Yes. But let's not let ourselves believe we're the 80s 49ers.

AJ Green had 4 catches over 40+ yards during a 3 game span in which Sanu was playing well with our team. Since that 3 game span, Green's longest catch is 21 yards. Green will never get chances with no one opposite him to take the coverage away. Sanu did that, and is capable of doing that next year with Jones and Hawkins underneath.

Marvin Jones will be the #2 receiver next year, with Sanu and Hawkin doing mismatch/slot time.

Don't forget, this is their first year, and wide receivers never really have good freshman years, unless they are extremely gifted.

It's ok to draft a rookie, as injuries do happen, but don't expect him to step right in and be a Julio Jones.

What makes everyone think Jones is the #2 next year over Sanu?

I think Sau was much more impressive than Jones has been.

Sanu and Jones will probably switch off. my impression is Sanu will be a special player, kind of like Harvin/Wright(sp) for Minnesota, he'll create mis-matches in the slot and often times line up as a wildcat or even running threat. Jones won't really do that, and given time to improve, he may find time as the #2 receiver. Jones is getting playing time now, and may afford the chance to move ahead of Sanu on the depth chart for that reason alone, if only in the mind of the coaches.

Jones has the more natural talent and ability to get open. Sanu struggles with separation, though he has the more natural hands. They both have things to improve on, but Jones is a more natural #2 because of his ability to get deep, and get separated from a defender.

Dalton is more responsible for there being no deep passes than the WRs. Green and Jones were open several times this year where Dalton just missed them.

Glad to see you're coming around. Dalton isn't very good and we deserve better than him. We should demand better.

After we lose this weekend Dalton needs to be on a 1 year leash.

Dalton is poor on deep passes. But until Jones started playing, the only WR on the Bengals roster that could get any separation was AJ Green. Still though, some of his deep passes he gave his guys no shot (ball out of bounds/overthrown). Honestly, probably the prettiest deep ball was thrown by Sanu.

Sanu is one of those guys who's open even when well covered, because of his toughness in making the contested catch. His ability to break tackles also makes him dangerous after the catch. Jones may be the more traditional #2 type, but Sanu is more valuable in the red zone.
