I think it's true to an extent. I don't think they can kill another conference though. In the big 12 Texas was the only school with tradition and population. In both the big 10 and pac 12 there are traditional programs in population centers like usc, Penn St., osu, Michigan, ucla and Washington. Oklahoma and Nebraska certainly have amazing programs but they were dependent on the Texas market for eyeballs.

Texas won't be as powerful in either of those conferences and they are fighting hard to keep the big 12 alive.

Maybe but you'd need to address this:
For those conferences that think they have too many tradition-rich schools for Texas to come in and take over, I say “do you?” Nebraska and Oklahoma have two of the most tradition-rich schools in the history of college football and they couldn’t stop Texas from destroying another conference. The Longhorns’ track record isn’t good.

I'm fine with Texas being independent. No one wants to put up with them. As conferences head toward 16 and start setting up for a pseudo-playoffs, though, independents need to have as-tough or tougher route to the BCS games and no special revenue sharing roles. You want to be special - then pay for the opportunity. Or learn to play with others and join a conference.

I love how Nebraska fans throw 5-7 in the face of Texas fans since they were one of those 5.

Obsession must really suck.

I gave no opinions on this article. I found an article online that I think would help improve this website and create some friendly chatter among fellow college football fans.

Tradition rich doesn't cut it, that's the thing. It's about money, and television, and there aren't enough TV sets in Nebraska or Oklahoma to put those schools on equal footing with Texas.

Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan... while individually smaller than Texas, together they've got almost twice as many people. Texas can run anything in the Big Ten.

Um, we didn't have one last year. And that's all that is relevant until this season is done. But you whorn fans continue with that 10 year stuff (hmm why not 20?). It's quite pathetic, but still funny. just like 5-7 for last year

A&M had two 9-4 seasons and an 8-4 season, that isn't too bad.
