Cowboys signed CB Orlando Scandrick to a two-year extension through 2018.

Scandrick's 2013 pay is unchanged, but his 2014 base salary was raised to $4.5 million and is now fully guaranteed. Per FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo, the new contract added $9 million to Scandrick's guarantees over the life of the deal. Scandrick has overtaken RCB Mo Claiborne as a starter this year and graded out as a top-20 coverage cornerback according to Pro Football Focus. Historically, Scandrick has been a slot corner.


Kinda odd. I seen a thing before the season saying Scandrick was one of the most over paid players in the NFL & now we extend him with a raise.

I think the only thing that gives me confidence on Claiborne turning his career around is it can often take a corner a long time to get it...especially in today's NFL. Let Scandrick be exhibit A. I have my fingers crossed.

best corner on this team (not saying much in this defense) this year, doesn't necessarily mean he is worth an extension. I know he has looked better this year, but I look at it as earning his current pay. I am not freaking out about this move. but not sure I care for it either.
I see it as taking away from future DB money or finding an actual #1 CB.

so you think this move was for cap relief next year? if he was signed through 16' why extend him for more right now? We still had a couple years of looking for a true #1 CB before giving away more money to him?

nah we did it because the two on both sides of him arent looking as good as him .......
