I guess there are rumors going around today about Santana close to signing a deal and that team is Seattle. Take rumors for what they are worth, but it would bother me if they signed him. You never have enough pitching and it usually takes a combination of 7 to 8 starters to get through a season with injuries.

If the rumor is false, not the end of the world there either.

Thanks. Wasn't sure because of the need for a lefty starter...

I like Johan as a cheap risk.

I'd take Ervin Santana over Nelson Cruz. My biggest concern is the money factor though. I have to assume that since Matt Garza signed for a very reasonable 4 years $50m deal, Santana would have to be in that range (despite the fact that IMO Garza is better).

I'd take Santana at 4 years $50m over Nelson Cruz at 3 years $30m. I have a strong feeling the Mariners offered Cruz 2 years, yet Cruz wants 3, which is why he has not signed yet.

I think you are right about Cruz. I hope seattle doesn't give in to a 3 year contract with Cruz.

Oh you know they will. Heck, GMZ might even negotiate against himself again and up it to 4 years to make sure that Seattle team doesn't get him.

He does but the good news is that the 1st round pick is protected and the 2nd round pick is already gone (with the Cano signing).
