I spit on the haircut of careful. Obi's gonna be the tits.

And while ST indeed had the potential for greatness in him. He wasn't great, not yet.

Negatory on remembering Byron Jones.

Disagree on your assessment about better choices later on than Obi, at least at safety. Yeah, I'm hip to Marcus Williams

I'm not sure the majority would agree with you about Taylor. I'd say even before his final year in the league where he was about to take the torch from Reed, he was probably Top 3 with Ed, Troy and arguably Bob Sanders overall better. His final year, Sean finally got tackling and coverage down. I could be wrong but it appears you think Obi and Sean are in the same class. If so, please expound on this.
Also Byron and Obi are clones at this point, no reason to expect one is much better than the other

The unexpected and shocking death of the young, talented, and admired easily lends to romanticizing them.A lotta Skins fans also believed or like to believe ST would've been a mainstay for the Skins for the entirety of hos career if not cut short. I'm not so sure about that myself. ST's 2004 rookie contract was a shitty 7 year 17 million dollatrs in total deal. Laron Landry's 2007 rookie contract was a 5 year 41.5 mill in total with 17.5 guaranteed and the highest cobtract ever paid to a safety at the time. A mere year before that Adam Archuleta's 6 year/30 million dollar, 10 million dollar signing bonus was the higest paid contract a safty had been given in NFL history. You could put the very best attributes of Archuleta and Landry in one person and they still don't match up to ST.

I think Sean Taylor had the potential to be the best safety to ever play the game. From a physical attributes aspect. ST didn't have to take a back seat to anybody. His tackling and coverage skills weren't a problem, The mental and maturiy aspects of his game could be issues though. I thought 06 wzs a bit of a drop-off year for ST, but the Skins def as a whole had a HUGE drop-off in 06. Letting Ryan Clark and Walt Harris go and replacing them with Mike Rumph, Kenny Wright, Troy Vincent and Adam Achuleta in 2006 was a monumental fuck up. The fact that Rumph, Wright, Vincent and AA were all ex-Redskins before the 2007 season began. While Clark was busy giving the Steekers 8 years as a starting safety opposite Troy P. And Harris was busy the next 3 years as one of their starting CBs for the 9ers. Spoke volumes about how big a mistake it was. ST looked primed to began his ascension to top tier safety status in 2007. Finally playing strictly as a FS as well as significant improvement on the mental and maturity fronts were all signifcant factors. Had ST not been killed when he had. I think he would've been looking for a significant pay increase after the 2007 seasoon and rightfully so considering the asinione contracts given to a best days behind him Archuleta and a much closer to slightlly above average as opposed to good Laron Landry. And if he had been denied I have no doubt he sits out some or all of 2008 and leaving the Skins FO with yet another fucked up situatoon that they themse;lves had willfully created.

Far as an ST and Obi comparison. No, Obi won't ever have the physicality or ability to strike fear into opposing players like ST had. I think his speed, size, aligity and range can be comparable to ST. Not sure far as Obi's ball hawking skills. ST also knew what to do with the ball when he got it and had a knack for being in the right spot which is more gift than attribute. Obi'xs maturity and mental game is where he has the edge right now though im0.

The biggest X Facto might berthe Skins organization/FO. Regardless if its Obi or another player(s). Once again the Skins seemee on the verge of ever present disaster and calamity looming just around the corner. I just read some more bullshit Allen spewed out a while back about how signing Kirk isn't gonna be as hard or difficult as so many are making it out to be. And all I can think of you know how I can tell if Allen is full of shit. His lips are mooving and words are coming out of his mouth.

That is a very fair and honest assessment. Again, I'm willing to admit he wasn't the best, he wasn't the 2nd best but when he was moved to FS his final year, it looked like he had put it together physically and mentally as you mentioned. "A football life" Sean Taylor edition shows if all the social medial outlets were around then, he probably would have been kicked out of the league. So yes, he had a LOT of issues that were swept under the rug. I understand your statements much better now. I'm willing to say though with the lack of talent around Taylor and him clearly being one of the few ELITE talents we had landed, I think the Redskins would have RUSHED to make him the highest paid safety ever at that time. He probably would have stuck around because he had started a family and his college teammates were on the roster

Probably saying this because I'm looking at your avatar but - the football version of Kevin Durant - covered with a mean streak. Granted, a safety can't dominate a football game like a great player can in a basketball game.
